Good atmosphere. Food wasn’t bad - fusion Taiwanese, more on the fusion side with a BIG tweak. I appreciate the waitress trying to be suggestive like it’s better to share plates here, “I’d recommend to order a rice dish”, etc., but honestly felt pushed into ordering too much food for our table.Food: 4/5
This joint thrives off of the atmosphere. It is really really welcoming and easy on the eye. Great hangout spot. Places like these sacrifice service due to their hipness. Don’t expect service to be super nice or have too much time; it’s not that type of place, get in that mindset. The food was delicious. The lamb noodles were great. We recommend the amazing chicken sandwich and the smoked tofu bowl. Expect food to be stinky, that’s just the vibe. Price is a tad elevated for what you get but again is to be expected at a hip spot like this. Come over, great spot.
It is a pretty cool venue and I would definitely recommend a visit. The plates range in size and are mostly plays on traditional Taiwanese food with a tweak here and there. I visited with friends, so we tried a bunch of different stuff and were all pretty happy with our choices those included the fried dough, eggplant, pork buns, basil crepes and scallion pancakes. Everything was pretty delicious, however pretty overpriced, which in the end took the one star off my final review. It’s pretty good, but was not great enough to justify the price at a premium.
During a recent visit to Brooklyn, I had the pleasure of dining at Win Son, a remarkable restaurant that combines Korean fusion with modern American flair. The experience was nothing short of delightful, as Win Son delivered a delectable fusion of flavors that left my taste buds dancing. Located conveniently across from their bakery, our dining adventure began with a visit to this sweet haven. The bacon pancake was a standout, perfectly combining savory and sweet elements for a mouthwatering start to our culinary journey. The accompanying array of amazing pastries made for an indulgent treat. Eager to explore more, we ventured into Win Son for a full-fledged feast. The dumplings were nothing short of outrageous, boasting flavors that were both bold and satisfying. Each bite was a culinary triumph, leaving us craving more. However, the steak tartare, while decent, failed to reach the heights set by the other dishes. It was a bit average and lacked the wow factor present in the rest of the menu. The restaurant itself exuded a nice ambiance, providing a comfortable setting for an enjoyable meal. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who ensured our dining experience was smooth and pleasant. The warmth and friendliness of the people working at Win Son added to the overall positive impression. Win Son's location in a cool area of Brooklyn further enhanced its appeal. The vibrant culinary scene in the vicinity makes it a must-visit destination for any food enthusiast.
We had a very nice meal here. Overall, the food is very good, but it is extremely expensive for what you get. The best dish was the pan fried pork buns. If I return, I might sit at the bar and get the buns with a cocktail. I’m unlikely to return with a group given the extreme cost.
I tried to go to the bakery first, but it was busy and was tough to grab a seat. I was lucky enough to walk into the restaurant without a reservation and grab two seats at the bar. The food was delicious and the menu was interesting. It broke the mold of typical Taiwanese food. I recommend ordering a few dishes to share amongst people so that you can try many of the offerings. The cured mullet roe noodles were a highlight - so creamy, rich and delicious, and the noodles were perfectly cooked.
Interesting successful and tasty takes on Taiwanese dishes. Came here with group so was able to try several dishes. Highly recommend getting the fried eggplant, big chicken bun, and flys head. The sloppy buns, cucumbers, ramp pancakes were also very good. Would definitely come back to try different entrees.Food: 5/5
This is Taiwanese fusion restaurant, some of the dishes are super overpriced! Consider some of the famous dishes are mostly street food in Taiwan, just surprised to see a $30 lu rou fan!! Tian dou jiang taste is very odd, not sure what is in it but tasted like packaged tian dou jiang. The dessert is very questionable, I would love to know what the are trying to present tho, ice cream itself is very weird, crust is okay. Hash brown is a nicely present as a fusion dish, taste great and moist.
The food here is insane— definitely worth the trek here to try everything!! I love the oyster pancake which tastes a lot better than it sounds but everything we had was delicious. Cute spot but make sure you come early since it does get busyFood: 5/5
