I was a recently a patient of the hospital and I had a great experience overall. The staff here are all very kind and you can tell they really care about you. I found the bed and pillow to be very comfortable. The occupational therapist Katie is one of the best I have ever worked with. I learned so much about myself and left a much better version of myself! Thank you Winnebago!
This place is horrible. I was placed on a 72 hour hold and it was a literal prison. I thought this was a place to make you better? It did not change me. Food was horrible rock hard, beds were an inch thick, and they take your dignity from you when they watch you go to the bathroom. They had me undress and marked everything that was on my body making me feel so uncomfortable. Staff is also horrible. I only bonded with this one girl I remember to this day!! If you see this you know who you are!
I went here when I was 16 and they don't treat you like your human. It starts off sort of nice but for some reason I was sent to the boys ward with another girl when they ran out of room. They lied to my parents saying I got bed bugs at home, when I know my parents keep everything clean. I know I got bed bugs there. You weren't really allowed to talk to other girls or you'd be "setting back your own treatment." According to another girl who warned me not to. It felt like a prison and if anything made my PTSD worse. Might want to reevaluate where you send adults and kids. I would think since a brain is a vital organ there would be better mental health ward for everyone.
i was admitted here because i was deemed mentally unstable by school staff in a different town. By the time when I was dragged in, most of my friends who were at school saw me being cuffed by several attending officers. I can still restate names but I will choose not to in this review. I was 14 when I was admitted. The staff were rude at time, just don't be too impatient and you will acquire your demánds. Many impossible demands like requesting your release early will be ignored. Respect others and they will do the same to you, most of the fellow juvenile are your friends. Some of the juvenile aged 7 and up might feel a sense of loss, homesick or such, I wasn't one of these individual. Depénding on the room you were given, use it to your advantage, make it into a gym, tape up drawings, draw motivational quotes with the crayons or chalk is all your choice, be aware that upon your release they might charge the person sending you there/legal guardians extra for the room cleaning service. Dont vandalize the room too much, you will be moved to another one. As for me, I was called Nate, staffs nicknamed me K/O. Whenever they sense a disturbance or a slight discomfort, they will alert one another that "K O isnt having it, etc...". Although I perfered Nate, the staffs perfered to use K/O to remind each other time to time that I am losing patience with how slow the they are supplying my demands. They started taking precautions, staffs even telling one another to wear all red when I was present at the institute. There were mandatory group activities daily, the attending "psychiatrist" will help you through this 30 minute routine. To sum it up, if you know why youre here, you've read all your rights and act alongside them until your release, your sentence won't be extended, be smart while staying at and learn lessons, things you didnt get to experience before and use the time to reflect on yourself, use it to think positive even after you exit. For now that is my advice, I give it a 5 star rating because it is one of many necessities of the modern world.
I was placed here when I was 22 back in 2006. Scariest experience I ever experienced but I did enjoy the activities, I accepted Christ after I confessed it while holding a kind college nurse staff, and I befriended other patients there as well. I did witness things I will not mention but I made it through.
"Medical Doctor" DEANNA KIPITZKE malpractice is the reason why I'll give a ONE star review. I told her recently that Abilify, a medication, had given me suicidal thoughts to which she replied, "Let's give it some more time", while she smiled. I asked for a 2nd doctor's opinion, which was never granted, & she told the county jail where I'm from that the reason why I was there was to avoid jail, or "jail aviation". This led to an early discharge & not receiving a 2nd doctor's opinion.
I know that places like these don't read or just ignore the reviews but I'm putting this review down so I can warn others so they don't receive the same horrible treatment I did 10 years ago. Very abusive staff, both physically and verbally. I was seriously injured by a staff person and they took no responsibility for what they did. Even the so-called P.I. took their side. It's a prison masquerading as a so-called mental health facility. It really needs to be closed down. An overhaul would not help. After ten years I'm still traumatized from my one week stay there. I was put for no reason at all. A vengeful, lying RN decided I needed to be punished and made an example of. Not worth the one star review. PLEASE CLOSE THIS PLACE DOWN! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CLOSE IT DOWN!! IF YOU VALUE HUMAN LIFE, CLOSE IT DOWN!!
As a 14 year old, I was admitted here. I was obviously mentally unstable and was in there involuntarily. But personally, it helped me. I still have some trauma but only from other patients. The staff that I worked with were stern when needed and kind almost always. Everyone has different experiences and i do not want to invalidate someone else’s trauma from this place but at least the unit i was on and the staff i worked with made my experience better. Obviously no one wants to be in a hospital and everyone wants to leave but coming from someone who was admitted for a month and a half and had to attend school there, my experience was not nearly as bad at the other reviewers. I am so very sorry to everyone who had a bad experience here.
My partner says their mom might soon make them go and they are terrified. They told me it's like a prison and from these other reviews, I believe it to be so. I can't believe this place hasn't been shut down. I've been to a mental institute, and they're supposed to help, not terrify their patients. From these people, this place is disgusting. And to those who think otherwise, you are what's wrong with the world. Have a day you deserve.
I was in inpatient care. Worst place ever, even for an an institution. Several kids were dragged away to seclusion for hours, and NONE of the staff did anything about it. They lock you in your rooms for half an hour 3-4 times a day. It was abuse staying there. You are just going on and on and your inside your head, trying not to cry because you can’t even hug anyone. Phone calls are limited to two per shift four per day. Unless you hate your kids, don’t send them here.
