I didn't go to the winter wonderland two weeks ago on July 1st. Maps needs a dates feature, cause this is not a summer event I don't think
This was a fun holiday light display to see with our grandson. It started half an hour late due to the weather. It's not something that I would do annually, but it was fun seeing for the first time. The pavement should probably have been plowed, as there was still quite a bit of ice after the recent storm.
This was a lot of fun. Except the really long wait. We were in line for over an hour. This was fine because we were with good company but also a bit excessive. I do wish that the police that had on duty were a bit more active in telling people to turn off there lights. The lights were fun and we all really enjoyed it. Plus it supports the Sunshine Division so that is always a plus!
This was a very fun family outing. This was our first time and we went at the very opening 4:30 time. Since I'm not a fan of night driving and I had a 3yr old along it was perfect for our family. It's a bit if a wiggly drive to get there, you may need to allow extra time for traffic. The lights were fun and there were all kinds, even dinosaurs! If you go later, it will be more exciting in the dark. At the earlier time, it was still fairly light out and the lights were likely not as dramatic. We purchased tickets online and it was very easy to scan from the phone on our way in.
$48.00 per one vehicle. Kids love to see lights. Pretty good and fun time for family.
This was the first time my family has gone to see the lights at Winter Wonderland at the Portland International Raceway since I was a child. At fist I was disappointed with the lights because the beginning of the display is repetitive. And, maintenance of some of the lights was lacking; as sections of some displays were missing lights or not lit up at all, which made it difficult to see what they were meant to be. But, as we went around the racetrack, the displays got better and better. We particularly enjoyed listening to the 12 days of Christmas song on YouTube music as we drove through the 12 days of Christmas section of the display. All in all, my family had fun and my kids loved the lights. If it weren't for the long wait to get in, it would have been a lovely experience. We made the mistake of going after dinner and arrived at the back of the car line at about 7:30pm. We waited in line for about an hour and a half just to get to the ticket booth. It was an excruciatingly long wait for our children. If you plan to go, I would suggest either going right after they open, before dinner, or waiting till about 10 o'clock. We exited about 10pm and the lines were short at that time. Another tip... When the line splits into 4 lines, choose one of the outside lines. It seemed to us that the middle two lines got bottlenecked and the outside lines merged faster past the ticket booths.
Very festive place to go to during the Christmas season. Although it is quite expensive to enter just for one car.
4 stars because the kids enjoyed it and that's what counts! But at $25 a car to get in, and over an hour of almost humorous winding of cars going at a crawling speed just to get in, it was pretty underwhelming as an adult. Nothing changes from when we visited 3 years ago. Its weird that some of the displays are placed so far away, it makes them look so tiny! They must make major money doing this, with how long the lines were and $25 pop. There was crazy amounts or advertising this year too so we expected there to be more added to than what was there the last time. Next year we will try another venue now that our littlest is old enough to get out and walk. We loved the convenience and comfort of being in our car, but it didnt really feel like we got our money's worth, as an adult The kids 8, 6 and 2 enjoyed it and ooh'd and awe'd at the 12 days of christmas, so at least they were happy enough to sit through the 1.5 hour wait line and then the 1 hour drive around the track.
This is a really cool experience, especially if you have children or grandchildren. You don't have to get out of your car, they decorated the racetrack with incredible light displays. How many times do you get to drive on a racetrack? The light displays are expertly done, my kids liked the overhead arches the best. My advice would be to arrive at 430pm or 630pm, since the line is longest fro 5-6pm.
Beautiful to enjoy with my son and hubby to make our Christmas a little bit brighter after all the loss we have had this year. Recommend to anyone needing a smile this holiday.
