The purpose of the Women of Distinction event is to provide a venue for the celebration of Women’s History Month, observed in March, and to recognize women who have made a difference in the lives of others. The event is open to students, staff and faculty, and local community members. Women of Distinction began in 2009 with much success, and it is the goal of the Office of Student Involvement to offer the memorable event annually.
The Distinguished Woman of the Year award is intended to honor women who have inspired, mentored and empowered others. Nominees are eligible for one of three awards- the WSU Vancouver student category, the non-student category or the local area high school student category. The Distinguished Woman of the Year recipients are chosen by a committee of WSU Vancouver and community representatives.

Promote student- centered opportunities for personal development and group interaction. The focus of the student involvement framework is to engage in social, recreational, cultural and leadership experiences while balancing all aspects of student life.
Our work will be conducted in a collaborative environment, inclusive of faculty, staff and the greater campus, in order to promote the necessity of a quality student experience.
