Don't call if you're on the State Health Plan or Medicare. It seems they have to check if they accept either one. You also can't seem to make an appointment without a referral and there is no such thing as an urgent need to see a gynecologist. You'll be told to contact your primary care doctor or head to the ER even if you're pretty sure it's something they handle. Other option is that if you're referred to be a patient you better hope you can last about a month before they'll think about seeing you. I would give them less than a star, but it won't let me.
This patient visitor line is ridiculous. The nurses and docs are great but trying to get inside is like a lottery.
The office is very friendly and welcoming! They advised that I arrive 30 minutes before my appointment time to check vitals, insurance, etc, and that's exactly what they did. I didn't wait long at all to see the NP. My appointment was with Heather Smith to have my birth control implant removed, and she was wonderful! She put me at ease during the removal process, and I was in and out in no time. From the get go, she was extremely friendly and talkative. Overall a great first experience, and I can't recommend them enough.
After moving to Raleigh from Charlotte, I needed to find a new OB as I was four months pregnant. I came to Atrium and it was the best decision. The staff is great. Whenever I called the nurse's line which was often being a first time mom, they always called back promptly and were able to schedule an appointment ASAP if I needed to come into the office. Rachel Runkle was awesome! She has such a pleasant mannerism and very dedicated to patients. One time she called me on a Saturday when she was off to make sure I got a prescription that she called into the pharmacy for me. As far as delivery, Dr. Beatty made sure that my induction went as smoothly as possible. She was collaborative and thoughtful in all the decisions that we made throughout the process. I never once felt overwhelmed or unsure about my delivery. Even though I delivered on a Saturday 10/3/15 when the practice shares on-call hours with another office, the doctor from the other office was great too. I'm someone who really scours reviews and researched quite a bit before choosing an office; so I wanted to leave a review that would be helpful to others considering Atrium. I can't say enough about how comfortable I felt there with all the doctors and staff. I will definitely be returning for regular gyno visits as well as when I have my next baby!
Chelsea Clark: Dr. Carter Gray is one of the best doctors I've ever met in my life. To be honest, before meeting her, I was apprehensive, but she was amazing. I asked her some hard questions, and she always answered me with compassion and honesty. My favorite comment made by her in one of my appointments was "I will never do something to your body that I wouldn't want done to mine." I thought that was the most compassionate response to my anxiety. The night I delivered, she was there promptly and completely cheerful this was late at night too. We delivered my baby, and she continued to make sure that everything was okay. After a day, Dr. Diebel came to see if I was okay, again. Throughout my time with Atrium, I found the personalities of the doctors very different. Some were more reserved and even sometimes brash. Some were completely awesome in bedside manner. I had the confidence, however that any of them would have made a great experience for me in L&D. My most favorite part of this office is the Ultrasound Tech they have. She took butt-loads of images at every ultrasound and answered any question I had. The ladies in the blood lab are also super nice and personable. Great place to go for quality care, in my opinion.
Each doctor in this practice has different strengths. Of course, you are going to have your favorites, just like with any "other" practice. I have seen each doctor in the practice over the seven years that I have been a patient. I have been thoroughly cared for, even through my pregnancy when I was over 35 with some challenges. The nurses are wonderful and the staff is always pleasant. Everyone is going to have a bad day, every once and awhile so I try to take that into account. Be your own advocate and ask for what you want. You have to see all the docs once but other than that you can choose who you see all the other times. You don't get to choose who delivers your baby, but let's be honest, the nursesat the hospital are the ones delivering your baby anyway right? LOL Having a baby IS a big deal but in the grand scheme of your entire child-bearing years and beyond it is only a short time. You need to find a doctor YOU are happy with, however I recommend finding a practice you are happy with and the doctor should be there as well. I personally believe Atrium has it all! Good Luck!
The staff is always friendly, organized and polite. The providers are responsive and willing to discuss any concerns or track down the origin of a weird symptom, which is fantastic. Many times practitioners can be dismissive, and that leaves the patient feeling unheard. I came in concerned that my hair had suddenly started falling out mid-pregnancy, and while they were not convinced it was important, they were absolutely willing to run a few tests to make sure I was okay. It turned out I had low iron, so I was really pleased they took the time to listen and respond to my worries. Further, I switched to this practice at about 4 months pregnant, because of problems at my previous doctor's office, and I have been absolutely satisfied with that decision. I look forward to delivering my baby with one of the doctors at Atrium, and to continuing my well-woman care with them for years to come.
We we're told to be at the office at half hour earlier than our appointment which was at 9:15 AM. We filled out the paperwork, and waited. After waiting for 30 minutes we're moved to the waiting room behind the receptionist office. We sat there for another 30 minutes. We were then moved to a nurse practitioners office where we sat for another 20 minutes. After waiting an hour and a half with no contact whatsoever we decided to get up and leave as we were told we had a 915 appointment and here we are waiting for an hour and a half with no contact whatsoever, other than to be loved to another chair. To add insult injury, my wife is from Colombia and speak English relatively well but would not let me come in with her until 20 minutes later so I could go and be a translator if needed. After waiting so long with no attention we decide to leave. Trying to get our personal information off their records and get our information back was a challenge at best. We were told that all of her information is secured and it's being secured in the "cloud ". They gave us an attitude because we were going to leave after not even having anybody recognize the fact that we were there waiting for an hour and a half after our appointment time. They then said it was not 915 but really 950 which was a lie as we showed them our appointment schedule. They may have 4.3 stars on this review but I would not give them even one star but that's the lowest mark I could give. They run the place like a factory and they could care less about new patients. I was told that new patients take more time to be seen because the old patients have an established history with the clinic. This makes no sense when you have an appointment scheduled and for people that actually run their own business and have dedicated their time to be there when you say they need to be there it is costly. Bottom line, if you want to be treated like cattle in a factory, this is your place.
Superb practice! I've had two babies delivered through the Atrium providers and all of the prenatal and postpartum appointments that go with the sweet little bundles. All of the physicians and providers are excellent, and my favorites are Drs. Alvarez and Breazeale and Rachel Runkle. The nurses and staff are welcoming, the facilities are clean, and wait times are rarely longer than ten minutes. The sonographer, Allison, is great at her job, as are the phlebotomists they are also hilarious. It's the best OB/Gyn practice I've been to. I highly recommend them.
I made an appointment for my 16 year old daughter. It was her first solo appointment, she drove herself. When she arrived she said there was no parking, by the time she reached the receptionist it was 10 minutes after her appointment. The receptionist curtly informed her that she was late and would have to reschedule. Great! She left in tears calling me when she reached her car, I looked at the time and it was then 15 minutes after her appointment. Way to go, Atrium! I wouldn't ever recommend this practice to anyone. I will be sure to pass my feelings about this practice to everyone that I know and post of Facebook. This is not how a lone 16 year old should be treated or any patient!
