Purchase a tiramisu cake and Chai tea here. The cashier was very polite and helpful. She helped me choose my drink. I got the milky Chai Tea, which tastes like "spice." Almost taste like horchata but also like a cinnamon cake. I can't really describe it, but I do recommend coming here if you ever visit. Five stars because it was so welcoming.
No more the price-friendly option in this touristy plaza, this old-school Chinese bakery continues to serve up to the community new and old. Sign of the times and survival necessity, I continue to be very happy to see business as usual. The same old favorites are still available, and now they can be found wrapped in plastic for self-service along with the items behind the glass bakery case. The additional drink options include bobas and slushies is a welcomed new treat. The staff continues to be friendly and welcoming, and I continue to reminisce about the days of cash only and chatting with auntie who used to run the show giving me a free bun or two when I purchased dozens.
Another local Chinese bakery in LA Chinatown. They have a wide selection of baked goods dan tat, curry puffs, and hot dog buns. I ordered the egg tart and curry puffs. I ate them the next day and they were still fresh and delicious. They also served fresh drinks juices, tea, and boba. One other notable aspect is that they accept EBT and CalFresh for all their items. I would have definitely bought more if I didn't have a long commute back home.
Year after year the baos have less filling. Even around Chinese New Year the Bao is empty with 3 slivers of meat and minimal sauce. They put a notice that due to inflation they would be using less. But my Bao is effectively empty.Food: 2/5
Love their egg tarts. It is simply just good. Got to try for yourself. Price is very decent as well. Still under $2 in 2022.
It’s a nice bakery for some delicious snack, but it would be great if they had a great atmosphere.Food: 5/5
This is right in New Chinatown. A pretty standard bakery serving a variety of simple desserts and some Asian specialties. I came later in the afternoon so they were out of what I'm assuming are their more popular items such as the Egg Tart or Walnut Cookie. The pricing is very affordable for each item being a few bucks. I ended up getting the Mini Lotus Moon Cake and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The Mini Lotus Moon Cake was classic. Smooth interior that is similar to red bean paste, but is from lotus seeds instead. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee had the essence of a Vietnamese-style cafe, but had too much milk added for me that ended up watering it down. It still made for a good iced latte though. Overall, a decent place with straightforward desserts at an affordable price.
It was OK, but it's not some inexpensive sort of ethnic place. A medium latte was 4.50, which is about the same as Starbucks. The pastries were similarly priced. We sat inside which was OK, but not much more than that, it was kind of ramshackle.
I dropped by today and decided to purchase a lemon roll cake from this bakery. Went back to our hotel and realized that the cake has mold on it. It’s disgusting. For a bakery, this is absolutely ridiculous. Your baked goods and whatever else you serve should be fresh. Wish I could give you negative stars.
Had a slice of Tiramisu cake. I like the less sweetness of cakes at Asian bakeries but this was too little sweetness. First bite after a sip of coffee tasted almost neutral like bread. Bland cream?, too much cocoa powder on top gave each bite a unpleasant bitter/chalky taste & cake layers very dry. Couldn’t finish it.
