This zoo was amazing! It was the perfect day to go weather wise.. we were there for about 4-5 hours...the different animal zones were done extremely well... staff were very knowledgeable! 2 main dining options are on-site... lots of places to take breaks, especially for younger kids...Rosie at the customer service desk by the penguins was so helpful calling us a taxi...definitely a must see and do when in Seattle!
Woodland Park Zoo is an absolute delight that never disappoints, no matter how many times I've visited! With its vast array of captivating animals, from graceful giraffes to majestic tigers, playful monkeys to intelligent orangutans, and charming penguins, each visit is an exciting adventure. The zoo's layout offers numerous spots to explore, making it impossible to cover everything in a single visit, but that only adds to the allure, as it keeps drawing me back for more. The kids are always thrilled by the abundance of wildlife to observe and learn about. Even though we may occasionally miss seeing some animals due to their clever hiding spots, we've been fortunate to encounter nearly all of them in different visits. Additionally, the zoo offers a delightful cafe where we can sit, relax, and savor delicious meals amidst a pleasant atmosphere. Woodland Park Zoo truly provides a fantastic family outing, blending education, entertainment, and natural beauty seamlessly. If you're seeking a memorable and enjoyable experience, this zoo is undoubtedly a must-visit destination.
There is not enough positive things to say about the zoo. It is an extremely amazing place to either go with friends family loved ones or even by yourself. If you have an annual zoo pass you can go even just for a short time see the animals you like and come back another day and not feel like you missed anything. The zoo is very well managed and kept. The animals although in a zoo seem content and taking care of. There is such a diverse array of animals to choose from. The butterfly exhibit is amazing this time of year. There are parking lots on three different sides of the zoo where you can pay to park. And there is also a free gravel parking lot to the southeast side with just a short walk over Aurora to the zoo and the South entrance. If you live in the area I highly recommend the annual pass so you can go frequently and avoid the more busy areas especially if they have kids filled trips and see those particular areas another time without having to pay each time and feel like you lost out. The zoo and the paths are very family and kid friendly. Strollers are welcome in most areas but not all. Bathrooms are perfectly spaced so you do not need to run to find one a good idea would be to get a map at the entrance just in case.
An amazing zoo with more than expected animals. Staff are friendly and facilities are maintained very well given how large the zoo is. You won't go wrong visiting the zoo, tip is to head in early as the whole zoo experience will take 3 hours or so.
Very fun Zoo with great layout and wide walk-ways. I would highly recommend the Dole whip and a visit to the new Bear/lynx area. They have a red panda which is normally being a cute lazy dude up in his tree and munching on his food. Staff is always chill and friendly, don't forget to check out the barn yard animal area they have some tiny goats and cows along with a big ol curly haired pig. Definitely would recommend.
Our visit to Woodland Park Zoo was nothing short of magical! This was my first time visiting a zoo as an adult, and my children's ages 16 and 2 first time ever. We visited on memorial day weekend, so it was a little busy but it was still a wonderful time. The park is set up beautifully, is very large allow yourself enough time to see everything! We were there about 4 hours and didn't cover all of it. The plants/trees were gorgeous, paths were clean, and everything seemed very well cared for. The variety of animals was astonishing. Seeing my children's eyes light up at the sight of each animal made my mama heart soar. This zoo allows you to bring in food and drinks, so I highly suggest bringing snacks or lunch and beverages they also have water fountains to refill your bottles. There are also places to buy food and drinks once inside, but the prices are a bit high. Our visit to Woodland Park Zoo will be one of our most treasured family memories. I can't wait to visit again!
Beautiful place to enjoy with family, friends or even just to chill by yourself. The Zoo is very clean and very well taken care of plus is pretty easy to see the animals. I would recommend that you arrive early because is less crowded and you get to see all the animals with a perfect view. The food is a bit to expensive in my opinion, so if you can take your own is also a good option.
The Zoo was clean and had a nice atmosphere. The animals we saw were impressive and appeared well taken care of. The gorillas were incredible! We watched them for at least 20 minutes. They were so interesting and entertaining. I understand it's not really within the control of the zoo and zookeepers how active or visible the animals are. It just seemed some exhibits made it difficult to see some of the animals e.g. the tigers. Some views from higher elevations would be neat. There didn't seem to be many of those. But overall, it was a good visit. They provided a sensory kit for my autistic son which is really cool. There were open areas to eat food you are allowed to bring in which is great. Well maintained and pleasant.
Our weekend getaway to Seattle from Portland, complete with the city pass, was a delightful experience! The Woodland Park zoo was a highlight of our trip, and we were thrilled to explore the diverse range of animals and exhibits. What truly set it apart was the ease of navigation – the well-marked paths made it a breeze to explore without getting lost, a sharp contrast to our experiences at the Portland zoo. woodland Park Zoo gets top marks from us for both its captivating wildlife and user-friendly layout.
Great place to see animals. I was really impressed with all the exhibits and how large the enclosures for the animals are. Lots of green/picnic areas to rest or eat. Only thing I didn't like were all the areas you could only do if you paid extra.
