About

Welcome to Devils Lake's only full service lakeside resort and fishing destination facility. http://www.woodlandresort.com

Description

Devils Lake is North Dakota's largest natural lake. In the pioneer days, settlers refereed to it as the inner ocean. No wonder. The 200,000 acre lake, with over 600 miles of shore line and one of the densest hardwood forests in the state, is an absolute anomaly on the prairie landscape.

Devils Lake is known nationwide for abundant populations of walleye, pike, perch and white bass. Field & Steam Magazine picked Devils Lake as one of the Top 10 Walleye Lakes in the U.S.

The lake hosted the FLW National Walleye Tournaments for many years and the Lowrance National Championship Walleye Tournament in 2009 and 2010. Devils Lake was picked as one of the top 50 hunting and fishing towns in the U.S. by Sports Afield Magazine. Many national magazines have highlighted our fishing.

Devils Lake holds the state record perch at 2lbs. 15oz. (1982), the state record white bass at 4lbs. 51/4oz. (1986), and state record striped bass at 20lbs. 12oz. (1993). Our lake record walleye is 13.97 Lb.(November 2012), we are now seeing northern pike from 15-20 lbs. regularly.

It's nice to read about our fishery, but you have to experience it yourself to truly understand what a unique lake it is. Remember, North Dakota has only 680,000 people in the entire state, if you want uncrowded, quality fishing, then Devils Lake is the place you want to be!

Recent high-runoff years have brought Devils Lake to an all-time high lake level. With the added water, thousands of acres have been flooded providing our fishery with prime habitat to reproduce in record numbers. Devils Lake is a premier North American fishery.

Love this place. I tent camp for the weekend and it was amazing. Great people with great service. The restaurant is on point. Service and food is very good. Party of six and food comes fast. The area is very clean and very big and beautiful for walks. Fishing was good as we night fish for fun and caught some walleyes off shore. Highly recommend this place for a great family trip.
My name is David and my friend and I of 65+ years just finished a stay at Woodland Resort on Devils Lake, North Dakota. The cabin was clean, the reception and service excellent, and the value received for the cost levied superb. We rented a cabin and boat. When we couldn’t use the boat, we weren’t even charged. The fishing was excellent, the pizza in the restaurant as good as you can find, and the young men and women working the desk were always gracious and willing to help. This is a top-notch resort.
We had a boat rental on 9/1, booked over a week ahead. When first called, i asked if the boat we'll be renting has spot lock and remote control for the trolling motor, we were told YES! Then two days before our rental, I called to make sure remote control for the trolling motor was on our rental and we were told YES, they have that noted on our rental. We drove 3 hours to devils lake with another person who never fished or be on a boat in life and when we asked the front desk gal, are we getting the remote control for the trolling motor, guess what she said? YES, and said she could see that noted on our rental on her computer. We filled out few forms and were told to head to the dock. As we were getting in the boat, i asked where was the remote control as I was seeing an older trolling motor with no spot lock or remote capability per my knowledge. She said she was sorry but all her remote controls were broken. Not sure I bought what she said. I said it'd be nice if they had told us before, even at the counter. She apologized but seem indifferent and pointed out there was an anchor we could use. Well guess what, the first time we used the anchor, it stuck in between two rocks and we lost it. They thanked us for being so transparent and truthful about the lost anchor oh the irony and happily charged us 125 for a 15 dollar rope and 40 dollar anchor. Seemed like a nice, clean resort. As we were walking in, I was thinking I'll bring the wife and kiddo for a relaxing weekend sometime but based on my boat rental experience, I don't think I'll be back here.
We stayed here last week. Tent camping. Very nice place. Me, Wife and dog. After driving around a bit Grahams Island campground has bigger camp sites and the sites are farther apart. Neighbors with kids stayed up late and very noisy. Wasn't a real big deal but neighbors so close you have to listen to their conversations. They have a bar and restaurant on site which is nice if that's your thing. Other then site size and closeness this is a 5 stars resort but Next time we come we will stay at Graham's Island. We have been coming to Devils Lake every Labor Day weekend for 15 years. We have been staying at The Woodland Lodge for 12 years. Every year just keeps getting better. The staff is always nice. The accommodations are clean and comfortable. We ALWAYS have a great experience. Thank You Anderson/Brookshire Family.
Resort is very nice. Boat Rentals not so much. Unorganized and equipment lacking. Issues range from-not charging Trolling battery, not fixing broken equipment and seats. Also some boats have Spot Lock feature but most don't. It is needed in this lake with all the wind and debris on lake bottom. Also frustrating is boat with this upgrade was available and staff wouldn't change. In a nutshell it was too much work for them in my opinion. The rental for the week was not inexpensive, I don't think too much to ask? While most of dock staff are polite , some also are pretty rude. Thank you.
We stayed in the campground so no information on the rooms, but guessing by the way everything is taken care of I'm sure they are great, awesome bar and restaurant with great food, once you are here really no need to leave for anythingLocation: 5/5
