Woodlawn Arts Academy is the premiere arts-based, educational institution of the Sauk Valley area. We strive to live by our motto: “Where the Arts are for EVERYONE!” We offer quality programming opportunities to all ages in all disciplines, taught by dedicated, educated and experienced staff members. We offer year-round daytime and evening instruction in Visual Arts, Woodworking, Music, Dance, Theatre, Domestic Arts, Culinary Arts and Literary Arts, plus an arts-focused Preschool program offering core and creative curriculum. We have four different facilities: the Academy, the Woodshop, the Farmhouse and the Barn.
Beyond our normal classes and workshops, we also proudly offer performance and exhibit opportunities. We feel this is an important component of the learning process. During the course of a year we offer four art exhibits featuring professional artists from the area as well as students of Woodlawn Arts Academy and area schools; three musicals featuring students in 1st through 8th grades, and a summer outdoor theatre production featuring talented adult actors; three annual dance recitals featuring dancers age 3 through adult; two music recitals starring students age 4-adult; and three rock concerts starring students age 12-adult. In addition to programs, events and exhibitions, the Academy also offers arts outreach programming to five local schools.
A nonprofit 501(c)3 educational organization, the Academy is proud to be supported as an agency of the United Way of Whiteside County. Through their support and generous donations from the community, we are able to offer more than $21,000 in financial assistance to those who qualify.
