Great Seller - very professional. In the course of restoring ~5 classic cars, I've purchased numerous items from Charles, and have had only great results. From CTek chargers, vintage-looking radios, antennas, etc. - everything top notch. *****
Woody’s Custom Shop is run by a very professional, courteous and knowledgeable owner/operator who has been providing hard to find products for Porsches. Recently he provided a radio and speakers for a 1969 912 and was a pleasure to do business with. Thanks!
BUYER BEWARE. The details of this horrific experience may overpower this review so we will try our best to summarize. We purchased a radio from Woody’s Custom Shop in May, 2016. It only worked for 10 – 15 minutes after we started the car and then would intermittently turn off, turn back on, etc. until it finally stayed off. This happened every time we used the car. After weeks of that experience, we called and sent it in for an exchange. We were told that it was “bench tested” and worked perfectly. I noted that bench testing would not duplicate the circumstances under which the radio failed. We received the exact same radio we returned for exchange. Over 14 months, we exercised a very cooperative and reasonable manner when discussing the many, many things to be checked over on our end to solve our problem. Some examples: 1 “Recheck your wiring, you must have wired something wrong. Try switching the X wire with the Y wire, etc.” We had to pull the center dash out or the radio numerous times to do this and none of their directions made any difference except to disable the radio entirely. Then we asked an Electrical Engineer neighbor who maintains all aspects of his classic car collection. Using his 40 plus years of experience, as well as the owners pamphlet, he said we had it wired correctly. 2 “Wire the radio directly to the battery”. This we did not do because it could only prove the radio may work when the car is standing still, i.e., another bench test. 3 “You must have the ohms of the speakers mismatched for the radio. Try disconnecting the rear speakers from the back of the radio”. We pulled the radio out again, disconnected the rear wires and the radio continued to fail as described above. 4 “Check the ohms on the front speakers”. This we did not do because it required removing an extremely large and heavy padded dash, as well as, parts of the lower dash which we could no longer physically do. Plus, the previous radio had worked fine with the same speakers. 4 “ The voltage in your car must be spiking or have other issues”. At a cost of $130, we had the voltage checked at our dealership and it was operating perfectly. Woody’s dismissed the dealership’s competence. 5 Etc., etc., etc. until we finally gave up on Woody’s and asked for our $205 radio cost back. Woody’s would not return our money as they said too much time had expired. We questioned who was really responsible for the amount of time spent to no avail. We re-installed the previous radio using the same wires and wiring scheme and it works perfectly. Unfortunately it does not have provisions for an IPOD, MP3, etc. which is why we purchased Woody’s radio. Bottom line: we spent over $400 including the $205 radio cost and do not have a working radio. In addition, we estimate our time spent to be 60 - 70 hours. The experience required the patience of a saint and bore significant pain as Dave is a handicapped Senior Citizen. Woody’s was aware of Dave’s handicaps. Over the years, Dave has installed many radios, speakers, wiring and alarm systems in our cars, as well as, those of friends and acquaintances. It has been a favorite hobby always for no charge. The radio was for our completely restored 1975 BUICK LeSabre convertible.
Have purchased a variety of products from Charles. Battery tenders, chargers, leather luggage straps, radios and more. Always helpful and a wealth of knowledge on all types of vintage cars.
Charles was pleasant, friendly and communicative. Would recommend!
Do not do business with this shop.. i ordered a stereo from them online and if was not delivered and returned to Woodys and they would not issue a refund. Business must not be great if you are stealing from your customers..
Now this shop has customer service!! I had an issue with my install and not only did I receive quality instructions, but the owner Charles even walked me through it step by step. A business that stands behind its products and provides great customer service, that’s what I’m talking about!!!
