Woolaroc Museum && Wildlife Reserve
"Founded in 1925 by oilman Frank Phillips, Woolaroc is a 3,700 acre working ranch that has a 50,000 square foot museum with a collection described by Christie’s of New York as “one of the finest collections of southwest art in the world” along with the original Lodge home and a large herd of bison, elk, longhorn cattle, scotch highland cattle and hundreds of deer. Woolaroc museum hosts an outstanding collection of western art and artifacts, Native American material, and one of the finest collections of Colt firearms in the world. The name WOOLAROC is derived from three words—the woods, lakes and rocks that make up the beautiful Osage Hills of northeast Oklahoma where Woolaroc is located."

Maybe not one of the nation’s best but definitely a fun place to come in Oklahoma for a few hours. For all that you can do, I would say it’s worth the admission fee at least for a see-once while in Oklahoma visit. The museum is larger than expected and well maintained. Cute animals to see and a petting zoo area too. Walking trails are OK, some areas had been flooded due to storm the previous night. We enjoyed the cafe which is fairly priced and has unique items like Indian tacos and flat bread.
We didn’t have many expectations upon arrival, just looking for something to do after dragging the kids to eat at the Pioneer Woman lol but man were we all pleasantly surprised! From the mountain man demonstration, to the drive thru “zoo”, with all the amazing views on the gorgeous property, and finally to the absolutely amazing and entertaining museum! We spent hours here and had the very best time. I had no idea it cost to get in, nor did we mind because it was well worth it. The audio guidance was even entertaining. As an oil and gas employee myself, I found it very educational to read all about Mr. Phillips life. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!
Woolaroc Museum is a very unique adventure. First is the winding road that offers many scenic interests before getting to the Museum. There were fun signs to read, Buffalo, Emu, Ostriches, Llama, Tee Pees, creeks, stone barrier bridges, and other points of interest. The Museum is located among other historical buildings, overlooks, and a cafe area. Once inside, there were many things to see. The Museum displayed Indian artifacts from the dinasaur stone age to the current era. Paintings of Indian Chiefs exhibited great details that hung on the walls. Bronz sculptures and wagon coaches were placed throughout every room and on the grounds. In the basement was Frank Phillips' timeline, from being a Barber to becoming an oil man. The quality of the collections at Woolaroc Museum rates as high as other famous museums around the world. It deserves credit for its preservation of history.
Personal childhood favorite and holds up today! Immediately after the admission gate, there's a beautiful winding slow road that takes you across a beautiful habitat with views of amazing animals. That's before you even hit the parking lot. Beautiful place to spend the day with the family.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What a fabulous place to visit. The ranch is beautiful and full of wonderful history & art. What a collection! There were several things for the kids to do as well. We will return!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$11–15
I didn't know what to expect. Woolerac was Frank Phillips', of Conoco Phillips fame and fortune, get a way ranch, now turned into an animal preservation/petting zoo/art and history museum. It took a while for my kids to warm up to the place. They only liked the Woolerac single engine plane, petting zoo, and playground. I like Frank's collection of Native American paintings and sculptures, collection of guns, and lakes. The scenery was, for me, just okay. It's pretty, but I wouldn't say it was breathtaking. Because I like Native American history, the art and history museum was best. I might return on my own without the children.
Great place to learn about our local Indian tribes. Also great to learn about early Oklahoma and the Woolaroc Ranch, which used to be called the 101 Ranch when it was formed long ago. It has a cafeteria, play ground, museum, animal petting area and several different wild deer/water buffalo/bison/goats/peacocks/cattle/horses and more. Even an area for re-enactment of a camp site where the kids can learn about it all plus throw axes and shoot a muzzle loader rifle at targets. My kid wants to go back already!
Had a great Spring day helping landscape and touring the museum. The playground is nice with lots of seating around the perimeter for the adults, the museum is full of history and we really enjoyed the tour. This place is definitely worth the drive and admission! Before getting to the museum and all the building, you drive through a safari and see all kinds of animals! It’s scenery is so pretty and calming. There’s a museum to get some knowledge soaked up and to see all the cool stuff they have there. They also have a lot of hiking trails to hike on. The trails were very well kept and suitable for my toddler to hike too! Our favorite part had to be the petting zoo and the playground! I’ve never seen a decent sized playground as cool as this one. They’re even shaded areas to sit and relax as the kids play. We’ll definitely be going back soon!
