World Cafe Live

About

Live Music // Food & Drink // Private Events

Description

As a dedicated concert-goer, Hal Real had become increasingly disenchanted over the years by the lack of rooms available for an incredible music experience. At the same time, WXPN, the radio station owned and operated by the University of Pennsylvania known for its nationally syndicated program World Cafe, had outgrown its studios and was seeking a new home. Hal's company, Real Entertainment Group, soon entered into a unique partnership between a public broadcaster and a private enterprise, sharing work space and a common philosophy. WXPN licensed the name World Cafe Live allowing for the creation of a clubhouse for the Philadelphia music community with a name that says it all.

World Cafe Live Philadelphia has featured an average of 550 ticketed shows, 200 free shows, and over 250 special events a year since opening in 2004. From hosting one of Adele's first US performances to showcasing artists such as Melody Gardot, James Blunt, and Edward Sharpe, WCL is known for bringing established artists to an intimate setting that is both artist and audience friendly.

"World Cafe Live is a nonprofit independent venue dedicated to live music, education, and community engagement. Since opening in 2004, World Cafe Live has been a vibrant hub for concerts, food & drink, and special events in Philadelphia. World Cafe Live presents emerging and established local, national, and international artists on its two stages, The Lounge and The Music Hall."

My wife and I went on Saturday, Oct 7th, 2023, and had a great time. We saw Joe Jamieson and Jim Florentine. They were fantastic. We started off with the broccoli fritters and sauteed beets, and for the meals I had the steak, and the wife had the salmon. We had a great night with friends and family, Robin and Mike. They staff was awesome and friendly. Just a great time all the way around. We will be coming back again and again. Thank for a great night everyone.
Absolutely perfect evening! If there were small bites options that would put the icing on the cake! However, the singers and band were exceptional! I would certainly attend another candlelight. The evening was giving Great vibes only club.
Food was excellent, has the broccoli fritters, Cajun catfish with grits, and the chocolate torte. Everything was perfect and delicious. The show was amazing as well. Highly recommend.
This was our second time attending this quartet's performances hosted by Fever and they are always incredible. I cannot speak highly enough about their shows. Absolute class acts.
Small, intimate, friendly place. Great sound. Saw the incredible Mary Fahl. Coffee was good. Only complaint is the chairs are hard. I was ok but boyfriend doesn't have enough padding! I heard the seats in the Mezzanine were better. Would definitely go back!
Great atmosphere! Drinks are on point, and the live music is a vibe. Go check them out! Prime location as well.
One of the best venues in the city with great acts stopping in weekly including daytime concerts. It has multiple stages and floors with bars. Most shows are dinner theater seating but some SRO is available. The restaurant is onsite and the rumors are, its pretty good. Street parking is available but you need to arrive early, if not, a parking lot is a block away but is confusing to navigate. Prices arent bad.
I had the most amazing time and most of all I really enjoyed the other people in attendance. Everyone was there to enjoy the night. I was a little sceptical because of the bad things that are posted in the media about Philadelphia, but I went and really enjoyed myself. And also a shout to ALL of the sponsors and performers, they out did themselves.
One of my favorite concert spots in the city. If you get there early enough you find on street parking for real cheap. Also great? The pay parking expires at 8! It's a city venue bur it feels much different. The food is excellent. I suggest you get the broccoli fritters!
This place in Philly was about an hour and a half away. But it was really worth the trip. We went to see David Cook who was absolutely awesome!!! He did a fantastic show for 2 hours. This place was very nice, good venue. Parking was not at all a problem. If we had been earlier, we probably could have parked on the street. But we were running a little late and when we got there we found a public parking lot for $8 that was very nearby. All in all, a great experience!
