Great place, nice people and plenty of smelt!
Absolutely great place for fresh cut pine ...love this place
Had fun, caught lots of smelt. Day time staff was awesome, gave us tips and told us stories. Would have rated 5 stars if it wasn't for the very stout female staff member who decided it was appropriate to fling our door open, yell at us to leave though it was only 9 and we had paid until 10pm and then proceed to argue and degrade one of our party members over the noise level. She then proceeded to do the same with several other neighboring shacks, who we talked to after the fact and none had complaints about the noise. Definitely not the way you treat paying customers.
I love smelting at this place, have always enjoyed it, the young man tending to the the wood and offering help was the best. I didn't particularly care for the really loud dirty music that was playing next to us, especially with kids all around!!
This place was great. A true Maine winter experience! Highly recommended.
Shack was clean. They started our fire for us and told us to check back if we needed any help, but we managed to keep the fire going without melting us out. We didn't catch anything on our outgoing morning tide but my friends went before us on an afternoon incoming tide and they caught a bunch. If you want to go, book in advance as they fill up guickly on later day tides. We had a great time despite getting skunked. The bathroom is a glorified outhouse but serves its purpose well. I'm going to go again on a later tide and see if we can't catch something. Have fun and don't forget the radio.
Always a good time whether you catch something or Not
Great time guarantee catch
When reservations were made I was told 8:30pm - 2am at 1:20 we were told we had 10 mins. When I pay $120 for a service its disappointing staff can ask you to leave early for their convenience so they can go home early. We have been going there few times a year. We won't be going back never been treated so poorly.
First time smelting and my husbamd brought me here. It was an hour drive and well worth it. We had a blast and caught a ton of smelts. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will be back again.
