Wrigley Square

Description

Wrigley Square is a public square located in the northwest section of Millennium Park in the Historic Michigan Boulevard District of the Loop area of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The square is located at the southeast corner of the intersection of East Randolph Street and North Michigan Avenue. It contains the Millennium Monument, a nearly full-sized replica of the semicircle of paired Roman Doric-style columns (called a peristyle) that originally sat in this area of Grant Park, near Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street, between 1917 and 1953. The square also contains a large lawn and a public fountain.DetailLying between Lake Michigan to the east and the Loop to the west, Grant Park has been Chicago's front yard since the mid 19th century. Its northwest corner, north of Monroe Street and the Art Institute, east of Michigan Avenue, south of Randolph Street, and west of Columbus Drive, had been Illinois Central rail yards and parking lots until 1997, when it was made available for development by the city as Millennium Park. Today, Millennium Park trails only Navy Pier as a Chicago tourist attraction.

It's a part of the millennial part so it's just a small area with some writing on the wall and a fountain off from crown fountain by the bean so it's just right there. Nothing real special about it. You know nothing you can. Oh I'm going to go here and hang out with a significant other. Any of that has none of that feel to it. It's just something that seems like the government wanted to spend some money and play something there
This is a tree-lined public square located in the corner of Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. This monument is a full-size replica of the semicircle of paired Roman style columns. The square has a large lawn and a public fountain. The square hosts many outdoor cultural events and exhibitions. This monument is tribute to the individuals and corporate benefactors of the park. The names of the financial donors are inscribed on the pedestal who are official founders of Millennium Park. The name Wrigley Square comes from the founder Wm. Wrigley Jr. who is famous for Wrigley chewing gum. When we visited in the first week of May, the fountain was not working May be it was not started for the season yet. This is nice place to hangout and relax which is just in the corner, if you don’t want to go deep into bigger park. It really felt good spending some time here in the park surrounded by skyscrapers.
Wrigley Square is a public square located in Millennium Park in Chicago, Illinois. It is named after William Wrigley Jr., the founder of the Wrigley Company, who donated $1 million to the park's construction. The square features a large fountain, a performance pavilion, and a bronze statue of Benjamin Franklin. The fountain, designed by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, consists of a 40-foot-tall tower with LED screens that display images of Chicago residents' faces. The performance pavilion hosts concerts, cultural events, and other public programs throughout the year. Wrigley Square is a popular gathering place for visitors to Millennium Park and a symbol of the city's commitment to public art and culture.

Recommend to visit
In much better shape than many of the other squares and monuments.
Wrigley Square is one of the sections of of the Millennium Park in the middle of Chicago Downtown, surrounded by all the skyscrappers. It contains the Millennium Monument, a large lawn and a fountain. The 40 ft high monument is a nearly full-sized replica of the semicircle of 24 paired Roman Doric-style Limestone columns called a peristyle. The diameter of the semicircle is 80 ft. The pedestal of the peristyle is inscribed with the names of the 115 financial donors including Oprah Winfrey. The fountain is a bronze-cast replica of the finials that adorn the Wrigley Building. I went there during a December night, so you can understand how cold was the place at that time. We saw the giant Christmas tree in front. Free admission. Enough Parking, but crowdy. If you are visiting Chicago, this should be the number one on your visiting list. Highly recommend it.
