Yaku works to repurpose the historic Hale Memorial Church as an international cultural center to unify Main street and realize the district's potential as a conduit for economic and cultural prosperity.
With the regeneration of the Hale Memorial Church complete, the city of Peoria will have a treasure unique unto itself - one we can be proud to call our own. This sacred place will offer our community the opportunity to experience the cultures of the world, and for the world to fall in love with Peoria. Over time, our fiscal, cultural, and emotional investment will bring renewed focus to the value of revitalizing historic spaces. We envision a city that more deeply appreciates experiencing and connecting with our heritage in a new light. A place where people can come together under one roof to connect more deeply with their own community and be humbled by the humanity of artistic experience. As Yaku – a Quechua word of the South American Incas meaning water – together, we will cultivate the seed that is the Hale Memorial Church.
