Ten years ago we conducted a fundraiser that led to the construction of a much needed all weather track here at Yellow Springs High School. The time has come due to wear and tear that we need to resurface the track; the usage of the track has been immeasurable not only from the standpoint of our track teams and school but also for the Yellow Springs and Miami Township community. Over ten years ago we were jogging, walking and running on a muddy cinder track that many of you experienced but we now enjoy the benefits of exercising on a facility that receives usage all year long and is accessible twenty four hours each day to the community.
I/we seek your assistance once again in making a contribution to this worthwhile endeavor. Understanding and realizing that the economy has had an impact on many of us, I am respectful of the times but hope you can give thought to making some sort of donation. No amount is too small or too big but we obviously ask that you give or pledge an amount that will allow us to move as quickly as possible.
Our goal is to have the track resurfaced next summer at a cost estimate of approximately $40,000. The Miami Valley Track Club kicked off the fundraising last summer (2010) with an initial donation of $1,000. At this point in time we have raised approximately $10,000.
We also are seeking funding through several foundations.
