Although a visit here might conceivably result in the purchase of a pricey classic car, this is by no means a used car dealership. It is a museum. It has evolved. At one point it was a restoration shop. It served the owners of old cars of historical note to repair those cars to contemporary operating standards for highway use while preserving vintage appearance and feel. It does so no longer. It now serves to house two collections assembled by its owner -- the scion of a greater New York City network of Chevrolet dealers. There are two collections. One is a portfolio of classic automobiles. It's assets vary, like any portfolio, with buy and sell according to market conditions. It will reliably contain interesting vehicles of considerable value in the current market. The other collection consists of memorabilia from American military engagements from World War I through the attack on the Twin Towers. It is very moving and thought-provoking. I had the privilege of visiting by arrangement with an automobile enthusiasts marque club. I do not know how you might make such arrangements. But start with calling the listed telephone number and leaving call back messages until a conversation develops. Do this as much in advance of your desired visit as possible.
My visit in Oct 20 was much more than a review of nice vintage cars. Chuck has created a small time capsule around each vintage, surrounding the visitor with meaningful memorabilia from that era. I was fortunate to have my 1958 Peugeot racing bike accepted for display.. What a treat !
Unbelievable selection of vintage everything. Chuck has a unique touch that makes this place a Mega must see for car lovers. I believe that they still repair unique cars. Chuck, Jay Leno's garage has nothing on you.
