YMCA Camp Takodah

About

Set apart by a first-rate staff, rich traditions, and a “Friendly to All” way of life, Takodah is a premier summer camp for youth ages 7-15.

Description

Camp Takodah helps children discover who they are and what they can achieve, so they can reach their full potential at camp and beyond.

In our single-gender camps, children unplug and connect with themselves and each other. They build the character and courage needed to navigate life’s challenges in becoming happy and successful adults.

Voted Best Overnight Camp in New Hampshire, and only 90 minutes from Boston, Camp Takodah specializes in overnight camp programs for boys and girls ages 7-15. Call us today to learn more!

Mission

We help youth find the skills to make wonderful friendships that can last them a lifetime. Character lessons at camp challenge kids to be their best selves, while the cabin living experience teaches campers to first tolerate, and eventually value their differences.

My son had his first camp experience at age 14, thanks to COVID, and I was concerned that he would feel like an outsider, but the camp did an amazing job of welcoming him in and he is a total convert! Second year was even better. He's the athletic guy, so high ropes course, zipline, archery, soccer, Gaga ball - you name it, he loved it. But he also really appreciated the reflections and candle light moments, much to my surprise
We LOVE Camp Takodah! It's a home away from home for my daughter. The staff are amazing, and there are so many different opportunities for kids to try new things and challenge themselves.
My son just got back from his first stint at sleepaway camp. His two weeks were amazing! I can't believe all the wonderful activities they offer. He is full of stories and will be returning next summer.
We send our daughter here and come for family camp - always an awesome time here, since there are so many activities and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We love Takodah!
Military family. We are curious is there diversity here? We are sending my child here this summer and want to ensure that she will have fun and have a positive experience.
Was there for a family wedding from Friday through Sunday morning. The staff there was absolutely amazing the layout of the facility is amazing
My daughter attended Camp Takodah this summer as a first time camper. She absolutely loved everything about it. She loved all of the activities, the traditions, the fun camp spirit, the leaders, and even the food! She already has a countdown going to go back next summer.
I applied for a managerial position with Camp Takodah. Thought my M.Ed, MBA, and MS degrees would have been enough to get an interview. Sent in my resume and cover letter. Two weeks later I received the most condescending letter in the mail from either their office manager or selection committee. Basically, the letter said "Sorry, we are not interested. We know this may be a shock to you but sometimes you don't get what you want." The letter when on but you get the idea from that one statement. I could not believe a Christian organization would have the audacity to send out a letter like this on their letterhead. But you know what they say, when one door closes another one opens. Three weeks later I received an offer from a Boys & Girls Club in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, Camp Takodah doesn't have a profile on Glassdoor where you can leave a review.
One son loved it and has been pleading for 4 weeks. Other son would rather do exclusively baseball. Both had great times for their first summer with one kiddo hoping to make camp a tradition each year.
My daughter attended Girls Camp for the first time this summer, and it still has the same incredible magic, fun, and soul-nourishing spirit that it had for me her mom in the 1980s-90s, her grandma in the 1950s-70s, and her great-grandma in the 1930s-40s. What a special, positive, friendly, sacred place to pass down through the generations. Thank you, Camp Takodah!
