We are a powerful association of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility.
Welcome to the YMCA of Port Angeles! This is the first branch of the Olympic Peninsula YMCA. You and your family’s health and well-being are a priority at the Y. Whether you are looking to find that personal balance or spend quality time with family and friends, we have the programs, activities and experts to guide you toward a healthier, happier lifestyle.
The Y is committed to strengthening communities. We work to nurture youth, improve health and bring positive change to neighborhoods.
Today, the Y engages more than 10,000 neighborhoods across the U.S. As the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to helping people and communities to learn, grow and thrive, our contributions are both far-reaching and intimate.
By nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and supporting and serving our neighbors, the Y ensures that everyone has the opportunity to become healthier, more confident, connected and secure.
We believe that to bring about meaningful change in individuals and communities, we must be focused and accountable. At the Y, we measure the success of our cause by how well we engage communities in our three areas of focus – youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Youth development
At the Y, we don’t just teach swimming lessons or coach soccer. We’re about youth development: ensuring that the 9 million children and teens in our programs reach their full potential by helping them grow—physically, mentally and socially—from young children into engaged, active members of their communities.
Healthy Living
Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. It’s about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with, or bringing your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities. At the Y, it’s not about the activity you choose as much as it is about the benefits of living healthier on the inside as well as the outside.
Social Responsibility
The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence as a nonprofit. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to support and give back to the communities we engage.
Opportunities for everyone
The Y is for everyone. Our programs, services and initiatives: enable kids to realize their potential, prepare teens for college, offer ways for families to have fun together, empower people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body, prepare people for employment, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster a nationwide service ethic. And that’s just the beginning.
