My family and I popped positive for COVID. My wife has multiple sclerosis and is immunocompromised. As that was the case and this was the first time we contracted COVID, she had a fever of 103.6 F, we were worried and went to Wells Urgent Care. The personnel must have fat fingered her insurance information as they said it came back rejected. They said she would have to pay out of pocket for any treatment received that day and made her wait outside the facility, treating her like a leper. We took her to the Dover, NH CVS Minute Clinic the next day where her insurance cleared immediately and she was given proper courteous care. She was immediately put on antiviral medication to further help fight the virus which is standard practice for someone who is immunocompromised. I’ve never seen such blatant disregard for someone in medical need as we witnessed at Wells Urgent Care. They should be ashamed of themselves! We’ll never count on their services for any of our family health concerns again.
If you have no choice but to go here for wound care, just don't. The staff is nice but when you have a hole in your leg or wherever that needs tending to, nice won't make it better. Wounds often don't heal because other things are going on and if trained medical staff is not addressing those things because they think their only job is to attend solely to the wound, then they aren't providing medical care beyond a very expensive band-aid. I brought my mom here twice a week for two months under their staff's recommendations. She developed bacterial infections twice and by the time she had to stop going, the wound hadn't completely healed and developed a stubborn tunnel that wouldn't close despite the support of cumbersome vacs and wraps. Eventually, the whole process of coming in once or twice a week exhausted her and she had what my family suspected may have been a stroke, which by the way the staff there didn't seem to think was much of a concern. Also be very aware that Well Wound Care is part of York Hospital and billed as a "hospital" visit by insurance even though it just looks like a regular doctor's office. It would've been kind if they had made this clear before treatment started. Despite being in-network with my mom's medicare advantage plan, she was charged a $280 COPAY PER VISIT plus that visit's doctor and procedure fees that are not covered but allowed by insurance. This is appalling considering that what went on during each visit was simple enough to be performed in an ordinary medical office treatment room and it was always the nurses who changed the dressings and the PA who came in for less than 5 minutes once a week to basically scrape some junk off the wound and defer to the nurse. Whenever I questioned something, their responses were defensive and focused on the fact that they were addressing the wound according to protocol. Protocol can work well if you're dealing with a security breach, with a human being's health, not so much. I admit my mom had other common health issues that she'd been managing for decades, but as it turns out, she did have a stroke and she died a month later. Now I'm responsible for a $3K hospital bill for what??!!! Healthcare is undoubtedly messed up AF in this country but those who entered the field with the intent to care for people's health have a responsibility that goes beyond that of just a job. They can still make the choice to be compassionate and provide care in a way that makes the cost of healthcare at least somewhat worthwhile.
Don’t go here or you’ll die of old age. Showed up on Wednesday late morning for routine bloodwork and had to wait over an hour with only two patients ahead. Unacceptable. Staff is stressed and overworked. If the establishment would pay for more help instead of wasting money on extravagant buildings to impress the Bush family, maybe Mainers could get some decent healthcare.
Had an unexpected visit to your Wells Urgent Care site on July 1st while on vacation and everyone was amazing. The wait was minimal, check-in was thorough and the physicians were great with my son! Encountering friendly people during a stressful circumstances, made the whole ordeal that much easier.
I recently had my annual mammogram at the breast care center in wells. The staff was very caring and informative. I have been having mammograms performed at an earlier age as most women as my mother is a breast cancer survivor. This was my first time at this location and I would highly recommend it. The facility was very nice and almost spa-like which made a dreaded procedure very tolerable. The best part ever was that the results are given to you and explained before you even leave. At previous facilities I have been to, I have had to wait up to a week and then had to schedule additional imaging. Bravo to this facility for truly caring about its patients and supporting them thru some very important screenings. Thank you.
I have never been treated with such disregard in a medical facility. I understand they may be under a lot of pressure but there is zero excuse to treat anyone in severe pain the way they did tonight. I will make sure to avoid this location again and go straight to the main hospital in York. It will be worth the extra miles rather than deal with snippy attitudes I witnessed today. I can take friendly or even bland personalities but the nurse on duty today is very bad for your PR. If she does not enjoy her work or industry, perhaps it is time for a career change.
One of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. Came in with covid and they forced me to wait outside - 40 degrees; pouring. I have asthma and am at higher risk for hospitalization - wanted them to prescribe Paxlovid since it's intended as a preventative measure. Given nothing. What a crock.
It's a shame that such a great facility and funding is in the hands of the worst doctors & nurses I've ever dealt with. None of these people should working I was suffering from an intestinal blockage. They insisted I wear a mask despite me telling them I have anxiety attacks when wearing them. I tried to oblige them but sure enough, anxiety. Instead of making an allowance for a patient who was struggling to breathe they treated me like dirt until I left. Hands down, the worst experience I have ever had in a medical facility
I went here tonight with my son and received the worst treatment by the staff there! The nurse was extremely rude and the doctor, he just acted VERY strange and bizarre. So much so we literally left before any further treatment. Without going into personal details I will say this...... I went in this place feeling a little fearful, upset and concerned about my urgent medical condition and left UNTREATED, puzzled and confused as to why a fairly serious medical condition wasn’t taken seriously nor was the doctor alerted by the nurse who checked us in. Definitely very little kindness and compassion from their staff this evening. I don’t recommend........
Had to take my girlfriend to urgent care when she came down food poisoning while on vacation. This was the best urgent care I’ve ever visited. All of the staff were warm, kind, and caring. At 8am. The Doctor made my girlfriend feel at ease and we are incredibly grateful for the immediate response and support.
