We are promised each of these under both the U.S. and Vermont Constitutions. Yet LGBTQ-individuals and families often find these promises illusory. Our identities are questioned; our families are denigrated. Throughout history, courts have denied LGBTQ and other subjugated individuals meaningful access to legal rights and protections. This needs to change.
