About

Conservative Synagogue in South Philadelphia

Description

YPC Shari-Eli is the only remaining conservative synagogue in South Philadelphia. Located in an area that once flourished with Jewish families, YPC Shari-Eli continues to operate through the good times and bad, even though the Jewish population in South Philadelphia has decreased dramatically.

In 1952, younger members of the Shari-Eli congregation, once located at 8th & Porter, broke away from their synagogue to form the YPC (Young People's Congregation) of their synagogue. The fact that YPC Shari-Eli has survived this long is truly a blessing and we would like to continue its operation. However, we struggle to form a minyan and are always looking for new members. That's where you come in. Please join us for Shabbat and High Holiday services! All are welcome!

WE HOLD WEEKLY SHABBAT SERVICES EVERY SATURDAY MORNING BEGINNING AT 8:30 AM.

Yes, women are included as part of our minyan.

If you have any questions, we urge you to call the synagogue directly at 215-339-9897 and leave a message. Your call will be returned.

Shalom!

Joseph Costin - Service Leader
Murray Costin - Executive Director

Mission

As the last remaining synagogue in South Philadelphia, our mission is to stay open as long as possible. There are no membership dues. The synagogue survives solely on donations. So, please find it in your heart to donate and keep this synagogue alive.

Thank you.
