Yun Tung Chinese Restaurant
"Hutong is an authentic Chinese food bistro. 'Hutong' means a type of narrow street or alley commonly found in a historical neighborhoods in northern Chinese cities. The Capital area and surrounding neighborhoods inspired us to create the theme of "Hutong" in the restaurant. We serve Beef Bone Noodle Soup, Dan Dan Noodle, Beijing Lamb Skewers, Braised Pork Rice, etc., and Asian spirits, wine and beer.""

The $20 tomato beef soup noodle is quite a disappointment. Too bad I didn’t take a photo of it, but I think google maps housed enough photo of this particular item already. Here is my thoughts - the soup base was generic, the tomato chunks were added as a after thought probably shared the soup base with beef noodle soup. The tomato was likely canned tomato, without much flavor or texture. If you really wanna be modular or plug-n-play of your menu items, even simply adding a bit tomato paste and a few chunks of real tomato would do it. Com’n the canned tomato has no flavor at all. Four slices of beef, that’s it. If you ever order that in Boston or Chicago or any major city’s ChineSe restaurants, you’ll get many big chunks of stewed beef. Especially at 20 bucks range. The bok Choy- the veggie should be there to serve as a contrast of color- green vs. red tomato soup base. You won’t see any leaf, just chopped up bottoms of bokchoy stem. Where is the veggie? If you don’t know what I mean, simply search “tomato beef noodle soup” in google image and pick any one to compare with theirs. I have to say the service is good, the ambience and decor was great. The chef should be replaced, and some serious thoughts of dish presentation should be given. Especially charging at high end pricing. Therefore, my 2 star rating - mismatched food quality and price tag.
Very tasty food and a warm, cozy atmosphere. We shared the tofu skin salad, fried seafood dumplings, and lamb noodle soup without the lamb shank. The soup was so good I forgot to take a picture. Highly recommend!
Great spot for northern Chinese food, which is pretty uncommon in the US. Highlights include the lamb skewers and any of the noodle dishes. Currently only open for dinner hours, they also have a diverse alcohol and cocktail selection and a very nice outdoor patio when it is warm. But the main draw is the authentic Chinese food from a region of China that you can't really get anywhere else in Wisconsin
The service and the atmosphere were great but it’s not the place for an authentic experience. We were here at dinner time and they were out of almost all of menu items. That was very embarrassing. The kitchen must have made a certain number of dishes and ran out. So not Chinese style.
Hutong is delicious and never disappoints. From the classic Dan Dan Noodles, to their signature Beef Noodle Soup which is so warming but also light and flavorful, to their must-have cumin Lamb Skewers. Straight forward and wonderful.Recommended dishesScallion Pancakes
The food at Hutong is DELICIOUS! On top of that, we had amazing service, quick seating, and the little touches and attention to detail were so impressive. We cannot wait to go back!Food: 5/5
We were warned that the Dan Dan noodles would be spicy, and they were, but it was well worth it. Erin was a delight as our server and we had a great time. The patio has a great atmosphere too!Food: 5/5
I don't generally write reviews, but I will for Hutong because they blew me away and I want them to succeed so that I can keep dining there. The crispy squid tentacles were absolutely perfect and came with a delicious spicy sauce. The Dan Dan was also phenomenal if you like spicy very spicy even though saying medium lol. Looking forward to trying more of their menu!
We had the beef noodle soup, dan dan noodles, green beans, pork egg rolls, scallion pancakes, and yuzu and melon sodas, all for carry out. Noodle soup: Broth and ingredients packaged separately! Critical for good travel. The beef was unbelievably tender. The braised egg added something special. Dan Dan noodles: Perfect texture, so savory, a bit spicy. Green beans, pancakes, egg rolls all wonderful. The soda choices were unique and fun. Would recommend to anyone!
I love this place. The food is excellent and represents a region of China that you rarely see restaurants for. My friend and I ordered green beans, chili popcorn chicken, salt and pepper squid, and dan dan noodles. They nailed every dish. Very tasty and reasonably priced! Also the patio out back is so charming and cute.Food: 5/5
