For all the donations they receive from the public for the purpose of helping homeless women and families they don't care too much about their clients... They put many mothers and their children out on the streets for petty infractions such as not taking out trash as part of their duty when they have babies to tend to... They give them a disciplinary additional chore to make up for the infractions but still hold that infraction against them... Kicking out mothers with infants back into the streets with nowhere else to go because the only other shelter is in Moorhead, MN and that place doesn't have the room to take them in either!!! They didn't even try to help them get proper housing... They treat the clients like slaves for free help to stay there only to end up kicking them and their children out!!! Disgusting and inhumane!!! They act like that money is coming out of their own pockets!!! They truly need to be investigated!!! The city should send someone undercover in to expose them!!!
So I stayed there back in 2017. I got in right away after calling which was nice. The staff were not super helpful when my stuff got stolen, I got really upset. Then they accused me of being high because I freaked out. Besides that it was a decent place. Better than other domestic violence shelters I have stayed at. Like I said it was easy to get in too, the rooms are good size, it was a semi comfortable place to be, considering the situation!
They where there for my kids and I when we really needed help. The advocates go out of there way to make sure you have help getting on your feet and into a home of your own with there help faster then if I'd been on our own out in the cold. They make sure your welcomed, and that you have everything you need for yourself and kids. I can't say enough about the advocates when it comes to the kids , they make the experience of being homeless or running from abusers, safe and as normal as possible cause they have already been threw enough, they always make sure they got toys to play with and at daycare the older kids get to go do fun activities that they normally wouldn't be able to do because families wouldn't be able to afford it. But here they take care of you like one big family
Date of Visit: 10/14/2019 - Visited this location on our "Bison Hunt" in Fargo. Ms. B...Flying Diva was a little worse for wear. She is missing quite a few of her gems, but still beautiful to view.
I think it is a fine place to support. They provide needed shelter to those in need.
The staff are to young and judgemental and haven't been through the life experiences most of us ladies been thru so they don't understand where we are coming from or why we act the way we do!
I'm very disappointed in this place, I've been trying to get into this place for about 4 months now, I've called daily for 2 weeks just for them to tell me to quit calling an they would call me when a bed opened up. There have been beds available an I never did get a call back..they r there to help the homeless not push them away!!?? If you're unable to do your jobs then maybe you should look for a different job!!!!!
Brought items to donate, gently used clothes & bedding supplies. They were very happy with the donation & helped me unload & opened the door while I filled the entry way.
I was part of the landscaping crew there but ,I want to say im aware of this place and how it helps or lady's and mothers in our community,And im thankful for the work they do and the help they give these women in our community. I was raised in a family where my mother was abused and i grew up trying to fight these men that hurt my mother .well i shouldnt call them men . because there not. But my hats off to these people and the work the do and the help they provide for these brave ladies that took that step to get out of these Bad relationships to get a better life for themselves and there children. You deserve better and your kids do as well ,so GOOD JOBS LADIES, God Bless You And may he bless you on your journey to a better life you deserve. and people dont physically get involved but get involved help these kids and women trapped in this life you be heard i dont call it snitching or not minding your business when innocent kids and unhealthy parents are being hurt.so step up.
Went to donate some expensive clothes. Most with tags still on. Staff was rude, and latterly rolled their eyes at me. Have my arm in a sling from shoulder surgery so asked if anyone could help me. Again a roll of the eyes and a huff and told me theres a cart there you can take out to your car to bring stuff in. It is a very unfriendly atmosphere and I'll never donate there again. Sorry for those who need but going in the doors was very uncomfortable, no one smiles or give a rat's a__, and acts like I'm nothing but a bother to their day.
