Ziggy's Italian Specialties is a family owned local food truck. The name Ziggy came about when over 20 years ago, Alex would drive Sherry to see her grandmother Belle. Belle would always be sitting at the park with her boyfriend Ziggy holding hands. Alex would ask Sherry when they grew old, would she be his “Ziggy” forever?
We pride ourselves on using only the best ingredients, right from the source. Our products are all natural and made daily using the freshest, top quality ingredients. We do not believe in the use of any synthetic, artificial, chemical preservative or additive. Our cheeses do not contain rSBT. It's like having Italy right in your backyard. Ziggy and Alex serve the Most Important ingredient in good food ... LOVE! You can taste it in every bite. The goat cheese is creamy and tangy, to perfection. Homemade roasted peppers That will make you wonder why anyone ever buys the jars. The pesto is so bright and fresh you can taste sunshine. Fresh crusty bread to pile everything on fills tables. Our Cannoli order was made fresh while we chatted like old friends. The passion for good food made right is contagious! Not one Cannoli Lasted a mile down the road. I almost turned the car around to get another after mine was gone. I'm looking forward to everything else we Purchased disappearing ... I need an excuse to get back to as soon a stand That possible! We stopped here on a whim on our way back from sightseeing in Litchfield county. My husband and I are suckers for great Italian cheese and specialties. The husband and wife team (I think) were so awesome. It was late in the day and They Had sold out of the burrata so we sampled fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers and Their pesto. Holy cow it was like a party in my mouth. We bought all of it plus a loaf of crusty round bread Arthur Ave, provolone cheese and an amazing Tartufo Which HAD truffles in it. Wow! We Also sampled the schfieadelle (sp?) I commented how amazed I was That it tastes so crunchy and fresh bc it was hot and humid 90deg day. The wife Said she fries them fresh the night before. Could not get any fresher! Next time we pass This Way, we'll be stopping again with a cooler!
