"All books are divisible into two classes, the books of the hour, and the books of all time." - John Ruskin
The Zondervan Library was completed and occupied in 1986. The Library building was named for Peter J. "Pat" Zondervan and his wife, Mary, who contributed over $1 million dollars to the project. Pat Zondervan was co-founder of The Zondervan Corporation, a Christian publishing company, and has also served as an officer of The Gideons International, as well as on the boards of numerous other organizations.
The Zondervan Library was also the first private college library in the state of Indiana to operate an interactive online catalog and circulation system. It houses the University Archives, Academic Enrichment Center, Teaching and Learning Connection, and the Center for the Study of C.S. Lewis and Friends, which includes a special collection of first edition copies of works by C.S. Lewis and original letters, among other interesting items.
