Zorinsky Lake Park

Description

Zorinsky Lake Park is a park located at 156th and F streets in West Omaha, Nebraska. Named after Senator Edward Zorinsky of Omaha, the park has a 255acre lake offering boating and fishing. The park is surrounded by 770acre of public land, including 190acre dedicated to wildlife management. The park is home to the Bauermeister prairie, which houses 120 species of plants, birds, and wildlife.AboutIn response to damaging floods in 1964 and 1965, several dams were constructed on Papillion Creek and its tributaries for flood control. In 1984, the reservoir was completed, and then the dam structure was closed in 1989. Zorinsky Lake Park opened in 1993 after the US Army Corps of Engineers leased the land to the City of Omaha. The Park was named after the late U.S. Senator Edward Zorinsky. The park includes two playgrounds, several playing fields and multiple picnic areas. Tree-lined trails running through Zorinsky Lake encompass the perimeter of the lake. The small lake is approximately 3.15mi and the big lake is 4.44mi around. It is 7.4mi around the both lakes. The path is marked every tenth of the mile with green markers to give the location around the lake. The park hours are from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. 7 days a week. The lake has a surface area of 255acre and is a day-use facility offering two modern playgrounds, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, a football field, hiking and bicycling trails, and a universally accessible fishing dock. According to the Nebraska Game and Park Commission, Zorinsky Lake was stocked with 79 largemouth bass on April 16, 2009 and 38,000 walleye on June 10, 2009. The maximum speed limit on the lake is 5mi/h and there is no-wake boating permitted. The boat ramp is located on the east side of the lake and can be accessed from 156th and f Street.

Fun pool for the family! We went on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't very busy. I am sure it is a busy place on the weekend but during the week it was roomy. Great time for kids of all ages. They have lots of lifeguards on duty. The lounge chairs are comfortable and they have shaded areas which is very nice. They also have picnic tables under trees on grassy areas. They allow you to bring food and drink in just ask that you pick up before leaving.
We play grass volleyball, go for walks, and just experience the calm away from the busy city here. The park is well maintained, the bathrooms are in decent shape, and the trees and plant life is phenomenal. People always have their dogs leashed and the playgrounds are full of happy families.
Nice lake and easy walking paths. The biggest issue is people with their dogs who don't clean up after them. Why do dog owners think they have to right to push their dogs on people in public places. The PUBLIC doesn't like dogs pushed on them. Restrooms: rather dirty
Great place for walking, biking. A good lake for boating, fishing, kayaking. Trail around the lake is long and wide enough for biking. There is a kids play area. Various stops in between to sit and relax. Good resting benches around the park. More than one access to get inside this park.
Picnic shelters are nice! Bathrooms are kinda gross. Nice trails, beautiful park.
The walk around the lake followed by plenty of open BBQ grills made for an enjoyable afternoon. Great place to bring friends, family, kids, and DOGS!! highly recommended Restrooms: Clean, well stocked Dog-friendliness: Lots of dogs! Great to see. Picnic area: Plenty of grills and tables with large enough areas for larger parties.
So cute and lively fish
Great bike trail. Lots of people. Pretty clean grounds with play areas for kids.
Beautiful park with a lot to offer! A good few miles of trails to hike, bike, and everything non-motorized in between. There's sport fields, multiple playgrounds, not to mention plenty of fishing spots and room to kayak and the like. Can't wait to go back!
Beautiful park! It’s so peaceful, you forget you’re in the middle of Omaha. Trails are well maintained, the lake is beautiful, and the playgrounds are a perfect place for kids.
