"Please Note: Last tour tickets are sold at 4 p.m.The 1892 Bishop’s Palace, also known as the Walter and Josephine Gresham House, is one of Galveston Island’s best known and most popular tourist attractions. Bishop’s Palace is recognized as one of the nation’s most important late 19th century Victorian residences. Nicholas Clayton, Texas’ most accomplished architect of the period, designed the house for the Gresham family. In 1921, Galvestonians raised money to buy the house for the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese to make it the home of Bishop Byrne. GHF purchased the property in 2013 from the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese. The foundation is the third owner of the property and assumed management in 2007."

This place was unknown to us. Our youngest daughter came across it while they were out exploring alone and it was well worth visiting. It seemed like a palace it was so cool on the outside and the history and architecture and marble fireplaces were so awesome to see. We went to several places this week while in Galveston and this was probably my favorite.
History that continues on. Bishop house is amazing in details. The craftsmanship that was used in construction of this structure is absolutely beautiful. Stained glass windows are gorgeous. Suprising to see a walk in shower not sure when it was put in. The paintings were really nice. If you have the time it is worth the trip. Go slow and get your moneys worth.
Unbelievable look into the world of the gilded age! I highly recommend the audio tour, as this gives you much-needed background into the family and church modifications done thru the years. Give yourself plenty of time to take it all in.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
Excellent place to visit. Self guided tour with audio device on the history of each room. Fascinating place. Owners definitely lived like a king and queen during their time!Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$11–15
Very interesting audio tour. It's $15 per adult $9 for children. 2 floors of the home are open for a self guided audio tour. Friendly staff and engaging facts about the home.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
Absolutely breathtaking place! My only and single disappointment was not being able to see the third floor. Worth the price and the staff was super friendly and informative oh, and there are bees in one of the side of the building.
Good interior of the palace. One of the main attractions in Galveston. Fee is 15NZD. No parking. Just park by the roadside if any. Learn about the history of the father. Nice palace for picturessVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
had a wondeful time, the place is from another era and it is amazing to witness a piece of history still standing. the self guiding system is pretty cool, too bad it is not connected to a personal headphone, so if it is busy, you gonna hear other people's guide next to you. other than that it's a nice place to visit in Galveston
Worth the cost of admission if you enjoy a architectural design and history and Catholicism. Plus their gift shop was amazing, super great finds.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$11–15
We had a great time while visiting bishops Palace. We learned a bit of island history, the historical home was actually built and owned by another family before being purchased by the Catholic Church.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
