It is a reasonable place to go. However it needs a good deep cleaning. I have noticed that the floors used to be brightly colored. They have become dark, almost black, with age. The people who work there are nice, but the locker rooms appear to need a good floor cleaning.
Been relatively pleased with my membership. Sure, get a little annoyed about some machines not working or some areas without paper towels at 4am when clearly there’s been plenty of time past the peak times to replenish them. It was posted recently the hours are changing to 4am-midnight. I need a gym that’s available at 3am to get a good workout in before I have to go to work. Unfortunately I’ll have to cancel. I’m sure there’s a good business decision behind this but it doesn’t work for me.
The parking lot lights weren't on at 7am, so it was really dark and didn't feel safe. The bathroom stalls were busted and seemed dirty, in need of replacing. I refused to use any of the water fountains because they were rusted and falling apart. The staff at the front was really nice and helpful, I did get a good workout in for myself, but I will not be returning until this place is updated.
I have been going to this gym for over 2 years now. I am a college student who is paying for my own education, and basically everything else I have. Therefor, I decided to get a membership here because the rates were a bit cheaper than lifetime fitness just down the road. Since I started here in march 2013, conditions have plummeted... Nearly all of the machines are in terrible disrepair Broken seats/adjustments, plates on cable machines stick together, weight stickers are worn off so you have no idea what weight you're using, etc., etc. and it seems like the management are in absolutely no hurry to fix them! Friends and I have reported these and many other problems and for the most part, they are either neglected for weeks or never fixed at all! Beyond this, The pool area is disgusting! tiles on the roof have large black patches of what I can only assume is mold or mildew! The hot tub always has dirt/sand/sediment LAYERED on the bottom of it! Both the pool and hot tub have nasty stains all over. The whole area is filled with gross calcium deposit looking stains which I guess won't hurt you but are a definite eye sore. The steam room smells AWFUL! about once every 6 months they will put a eucalyptus scent in, which improves the smell, but only for a short time. The floor in the pool area and steam room is very gross. There are many tiles missing and much of the grout is noticeably dirty, almost as if they never clean the floors. I am afraid to walk around in the area for fear of catching some sort of fungal infection on my feet.... seriously... In most cases you get what you pay for, but in this case, you get less. Maybe if this gym was renovated and improved, it would see more business and better sales. But for now, it looks like people are skipping over 24 hour fitness and looking for a gym that is not falling apart...
This gym is by far one of the most run down gyms I have ever been to. It is a sad thing that a company like 24 hour fitness would allow their name to be tarnished by the state of this facility. Most of the time a negative review is just an angry rant because someone was offended by a manager or had a bad experience. Unfortunately, every negative review on this page is absolutely correct in what they have said. 1 No lighting in the parking lot....there are light poles but zero lighting at night. People have been broken into and robbed in this parking lot. Security is not there and has been an issue for a while. 2 I have had no issues with the staff....mainly because I don't talk to them. I have read enough stuff about the staff to know I will get nowhere with them if I bring these issues to their attention. 3 Maintenance of the equipment here is also a big problem....good luck finding a fully functional cardio machine. I regularly have to check before I start working out to make sure the machine is safe for use. One machine has been "out of order" for well over a month. Another thing to note is that most of the cardio machines are pushing 10 years old. 4 I cannot speak for the Women's locker room but the men's locker room is in a state of partial disrepair. There are several lockers that are broken and rusted and the floor tiles are chipped and coming up in some areas. It is only a matter of time before someone slices their foot open. I cannot recommend this place to anyone with a Lifetime Fitness nearby, a Golds nearby and a Planet Fitness near by. Lifetime is going to be more pricey but it is worth the extra price in my opinion. Golds and Planet Fitness have similar pricing and are by far a better quality than this gym. The conditions here are worse than what I would expect from a club in a run down Eastern European town. I'd give zero stars if possible.
Better than some of the other 24s, as like in most 24s you have equipment that is out of service or in the process of being repaired but there are always different methods to achieve that same workout available. That being said I've seen machines replaced and thinks fixed as well as new machines in the time I've been there. Dont let your first visit hinder your decision to workout.
They promised to remodel for almost two years. They made it seem like a bunch of new equipment and new basketball court. They did redo the court poorly and the equipment happened to be 4 new pieces of equipment. The only way they clean is later at night by vacuuming the floor and wiping down the glass. It also always smells like sweat. Just suck it up, pay the extra money and be satisfied at Lifetime fitness down the road!
This is my normal gym location, so I know everyone by face, some by name. Enjoy being able to use the jacuzzi and pool here not every location has one, let alone both. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They also have the nicest young man keeping your kiddos entertained. I would give this place five stars if it were based on staff and management alone. However, I'm not sure if it's this way in the woman's showers, but in the men's showers the HOT and COLD water is reversed.. I can't count the number of times I've forgotten that, and have been reminded quick and in a hurry..
Rate 4 stars because of our instructor, Susan. She is absolutely marvelous. She actually takes the time to choreograph our workout, both floor and water. But the showers suck. One door won't shut. One knob is missing in another. The hot and cold water is reversed in some. Guess which ones??? So old and dirty. 7 new members started on Wednesday. Will be able to keep them??? And please shock the hot tub some other time than Thursday at 10 AM when our water class ends at 1030. RUDE! We were told that Corporate in California controls the temp in our workout room. What do they know about Texas heat and humidity? Corporate, please come visit our class.
I have always been a 24 hour member for as long as I've worked out. This location is not my favorite. I recently moved to the area and after working out at the Woodlands location and downtown at the Dunstan location. I'm very disappointed. Not only does the gym just have a gross and unkept look to it, almost half the machines are always down or broken. One day, I went to five different treadmills before I found one that worked. And today several ellipticals were broken. It's very frustrating, especially after going to their other locations and this not being a problem. The locker rooms are gross and dingy....this gym needs some serious updating. I will say that the staff at the front desk is usually friendly when I come in, but that doesn't help when half their machines are down.
