Very nice and cozy place to come have a bite to eat. The hot sauces aren't on the table so you have to ask for them specifically. Big menu and lunch menu. The General Tso Tofu was really tasty.
Quality food at a great price point and the delivery is typically fast, but never longer than the stated time. Great to have a Chinese delivery option like this near me again. Love the orange chicken and I get it extra spicy and they always get the request right. Some of the best crab puffs I've ever had. Can't be the deal of the dinner meals.
The restaurant is nice inside and quiet. The staff is friendly. The food has a very nice presentation when brought to the table. If you are aware of the dangers of MSG or are have a salt sensitivity due to high blood pressure order a steamed plate. Or let them know that you do not want msg.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant. It is owned by the sweetest couple, and is very family oriented. Their food is delicious, and I would eat it every day if I could. The portions are great, it is priced right, and the lunch menu items are a must buy during the work week. I highly suggest the General Tso's bean curd, or the chicken if you are not a fan of tofu. I will say though, that if you do not like really spicy food to ask for just a little spicy, as they'll adjust the heat to any dish for you. I've eaten at many other Chinese restaurants, and none have even come close to this place. I highly recommend 518 Cafe.
Horrible service. Submitted an order online and was told it would be ready in half an hour. Showed up 35 minutes later for our food and they hadn't even started yet. The girl pulled up the order on her PHONE and said "oops I haven't opened that order yet, we haven't even started it." Didn't apologize, didn't try to make up for it, nothing. They lost a $50 order and we ended up eating at Panda Express. Never going here again.
Hands down the best tasting Chinese food in the area. The food is very fresh and cooked perfectly. Seafood, chicken, meat or vegetables...it is all consistently delicious. Delivery is prompt and well packaged. Thank you, 518 Cafe. We love you!
Our family loves this place! They have the best Chinese food, its always served fresh, hot and delicious!! The portions are large enough to share or have left overs and you cant go wrong with any menu selection :
I can say honestly I have never been treated with such disrespect in my entire life. While I don't dine here or order from 518 everyday I can say I've ordered dine in, take out and delivery many times. This past week had been an extremely chaotic time for our family and we were all hungry and exhausted when I made the decision to order online from 518 a little before 7pm, even seeing it was going to take 55 minutes. I placed the order and called once it was sent and requested they go easy on spice. The lady that answered passed me to someone else after I called but that wasn't an issue. My order was supposed to be ready by 8:03, I waited until 8:15 before calling to see where our food was. Again I was passed to the young lady I had spoke to earlier about the spice, she said they had got slammed and she was the only delivery driver and it would be there shortly. She ask if the order was for dunleavy and I told her no and gave her my name and street and she said it would be there shortly. We waited but began talking about the fact it had been so long was it even out of the store and was it made well over an hour ago when we 1st placed the order so I called back, 8:27, again routed back to the young lady from the 2 previous calls, I advised her we had been waiting well over an hour for our order and I would like to know when it was made and it had left the store, she told me they had gotten extremely busy and she was the only delivery person there and the order would arrive shortly, I told her I was only 5 minutes from there and she told me "that every time she had to get on the phone and doddel with me then that would just put my order even later so could she go and get on with it then hung up on me! I did wait 2 minutes before calling back. I advised the woman who answered that they could cancel my order and refund my card the full amount since I was causing them such a problem with my doddling and that the delivery driver just costed them a customer, the lady that first answered all the calls told me my food was on its way and would arrive shortly, I told her I had just talked to the driver and told her what the driver had said, she then said that lady wasn't even the driver, the driver was a guy and our food was on the way, I told her that now it had been an hour and a half since I placed the order if they were that busy then I could have drove and picked it up myself, im within 5 minutes and I did not want food that has sat for an hour due to my doddling on the phone and I hung up. Have enough respect for your customers time to be honest and let them make the choice on picking it up, getting it delivered later or not at all. Don't keep lying saying it's on its way, no one ever showed up because it wasn't ever on its way if it was ever cooked at all. We had a little pizza lunchable and a bowl of Doritos for dinner! Thanks for NOTHING 518! Maybe next customer admit you made a mistake, take responsibility, attempt to fix it or compensate for it but what ever you do don't tell a paying customer that there order is late because they are calling about the overdue meal. You even set the time frame for readiness so not my doddling causing your time management issue. Take my 1 star rating and subtract 9 more then you can start there for a true rating. Never again!
Have never had a bad meal here. The food is always excellent, and the service is inviting and pleasant. On my top 5 favorite places to eat!!!
I have to start stating that I have been getting take out often from this establishment by take out either with my co workers or by myself, as well had worked in the industry for years. Today changed it all. Today around 11:45 I ordered my usual General Tso take out order paid and tipped online. Went in a little after noon to pick up and was asked for the garlic chicken. That is when I stated no it was for the online order for the general tso. I was then told that "I" had asked a man to pick up my order because it was to cold. If I asked someone to pick up my order why would I have been there. The woman in the front of house then shows my credit card receipt of a signature not mine and that she had given it to the man that "I" told to pick up my order. I then explained I don't live only work in the area and had not asked anyone to pick up my order. She then gets the owner to come out who is anything but polite making me feel like I am in the wrong. Then insists only way I will get food is proof of card used and receipt which I had both. That got him fuming more, all I want is my lunch. I worked in the industry happens on accident all the time wrong food given you remake and no big deal. Never have seen anyone have to proof of card much less receipt. So at this point he finally said he would be out in 10 minutes with my order. I should have known better where I made mistake taking my food where he came out with my order in maybe four minutes. Meanly and annoyed asked if I needed soy sauce. Really? Umm yes I do. Get back into my office open my food and it is not general tso but the garlic chicken they tried earlier. I called and went back up saying I am on my lunch hour. Get up there wait 5 minutes to be even seen with maybe four tables in establishment. And he demands me to show him the food. I opened the box and he screamed this is general tso. I at this point in total shock in my years never seen any manager much less an owner treat a customer like this. It gets better he then grabs the to go box and yells at the other customers what this is. At this point I give up close the box close it, and tell him he can keep his food. He then goes to shove it across the counter towards me to then spike into the trash. I can't even explain what I felt other than being a customer trying to get my correct food disrespected much less harassed. This is the owner not a bad employee. I can say that me nor any of my co workers will ever come to this establishment again. If I could give negative stars I would. I have heard of bad days but this is beyond bad and not acceptable.
