I visited this precinct to report a crime they were rude and unprofessional. police officer was screaming at me and didn't want to file a report. He said why I did come at that specific time. Obviously he didn't want to do any paperwork. There were 6 officers there sitting there joking around. And No one wanted to lift a finger. I was afraid to complain because I live close by and afraid of retaliation by the officers. Bottom line is a lot of reports are not written to keep crime statistics down.
Sometimes little things do mean a lot. Officers Rad and Carolina responded to a minor problem with such professionalism and real caring that I not only came away much less stressed, but also much more optimistic about the existence kindness and simple human decency. Just wanted to say Thanks!
I was robbed during a car sale. I provided proof and they victim shamed me, contradicted what the DMV said and were rude. The guy at the front desk with a beard and the red headed blue eyed sergeant were rude and unhelpful. I filed a report and they’re now investigated. Defund this department and hire people who are actually qualified.
The 61st refuses to deal with motorcycles, bikes and mopeds being driven on the sidewalk. I like to know why. I voice my concerns at meetings and nothing has changed. The sidewalks have been a dangerous place to walk. The citizens has no rights to walk in peace. Today I had to dodge a moped on Ocean Pkwy and I'm sick of it.
Very professional officers who truly go above and beyond and really care about the welfare of their community. NYC Finest are real life heroes and we're very lucky to have them looking out for us.
My husband got rear-ended while sitting at a red light with our 8 year old son in the car at 9 pm at night. He asked dispatch to please hurry as he was with a child. It took them 2 hours to show up at which point in time they spent less than 10 minutes taking statements from both parties and did not write my husbands statement down. When my husband went to pick up the police report he read it and told the officer that the information was incorrect his statement as well as the woman who hit us who flat out lied. They told him "Don't worry about it, it was a rear-end so you won't have a problem with insurance." Well, of course the insurance had a problem with it and told us to get it amended. From the second we walked in they treated us like we were a huge inconvenience. Finally the officer that took the statement came in from patrol and was clearly already irritated. All we asked was that they change it to say our vehicle was not moving at the time of the collision but it was like I was speaking a different language. We asked them why it said that our car was moving when we were hit and they said because it was. Ummm, they weren't there so how are they making this assumption?? They wouldn't listen to anything we had to say and just blew us off. Granted, after the first 5 minutes of being spoken to like a kindergartner and treated like a second class citizen I did lose my temper which was not the smartest thing to do but at that point I already knew that they weren't going to help us. I should have realized that of course they aren't going to admit they made a mistake. So...obviously they did not amend the report. All they did was talk to us like we were idiots, generalize about how "everyone" who is involved in an accident and comes in to request an amended report is a liar, and tell us that we were "wasting their time." RUDE RUDE RUDE. If you ever need anything from this precinct GOOD LUCK or don't even bother.
I essentially need to state thank you to the officers that went to an attempted burglary at our home while my mom and I were snoozing. I got into an incident at shore turnpike a few days earlier and an officer was with me the entire time. To the extent I can tell they are extremely master and handle conditions the best way they can. So I just need to Thank them for all the help and reinforce they exhibited this gathering. You are esteemed!
They are not willing to help. Just trying to do as less work as they can, but not their duties. Even the higher captains have the same attitude. Looks like the 61st precinct was like this forever. Check the other people's reviews. Called them twice. The first time said they cannot do anything and the second time they closed the case immediately, claiming the theft was not a criminal case. The worst thing is that their total careless attitude increases crime rate on the streets of our neighborhood.
Came in to file a simple report for DMV purposes in my local precinct. They refused to take a report , gave a runaround and 100 reasons why they can't do that and suggested to go to a different precinct. None of their reasons made any sense . I wasted over 40 minutes and left with nothing. Then, I went to 61st precinct and had the report done in 10 minutes. The 3 stars are for being nice overall but zero stars for being unhelpful.
This is my first review for PD. I know this Precinct has a lot of hard-working officers like Locastro, and some lazy ones. They're doing their best to keep this neighborhood safe. WE MUST FUND THE NYPD!!!
