Alkantrant Library, Lynnwood

We enjoy our visits to this library! It's quiet and clean. It's a nice place for the kids to sit and read and well kept/organised. It's a wonderful little gem tucked away yet close to main roads.

A quaint library with the basics. Wasn’t too crowded went on a Wednesday. Ample work space with plugs, a little children’s nook and reading nooks. Also attached to a community hall. 1GB a day of Tshwane Free Wifi. Also very clean.

This is a very convenient place to study. Joining is free, although I was let in without hassles on the day I came I’ll register next time - will bring proof of residence.

As a newcomer to Pretoria I visited the library with the prospect of joining this establishment. The lady at reception barely greeted me and I did not feel welcome. I wondered about and found an interesting collection of Dutch, German and Afrikaans books. I do however feel that the library could do with a facelift, eg the name cards on the shelves can be redone and some were hanging loose due to the prestik which slid off. Trollies of books were on the floor...I shall give it a try and then take it from there.

Edit* So I had to downgrade this 4 star to 3, only because I am unable to reach them via telephone... Desperately need a book for reference work, but I just can't get hold of them... Apart from a few idiots who love to double park their vehicles, this library is top notch. Friendly staff, helpful and willing to assist where possible, wide selection in books within my interest, even other patrons are friendly. The front door however, is incredibly noisy when opening and closing. Maybe have it looked at to aid to students using it to study?

If you're looking for a nice and quiet place to sit and study or to read a book, this is definitely not the place for you. The staff is constantly talking so loud and that makes it difficult to concentrate. I asked the lady at the front desk if she could lower her voice but she replied: "If you don't want to be here, then leave". So lady at the front desk I will take your advice and never go back there again. Worst library experience ever!!!

The library has always been a quite place convenient for studying but for some odd reason things are changing. Ppl bring their children and fail to control them. Kids just make noice and really this is inconsiderate. Like noise in the library is just not acceptable. Why would ppl expect others to approach them and ask them to keep quite?? It is so disrespectful this is a public library let us have respect towards one another.

I have grown very fond of them after all this time. Still very reflective of its neighborhood. Not a very big library, but just fine for my needs.

I love that park but I have noticed it is getting neglected and there is huge pile of rubber covered wires dumped right next to the river in the middle of this beautiful park.

For nearly ten years my best friend. Some new books for the romance section, please.
