ALoft

About

Our dream is to provide a unique affordable accommodation experience in the leafy suburb Hunters Home in the jewel of South Africa, Knysna. Our plan is to place “ALoft” with Airbnb to generate international interest and clientele.

Description

“ALoft”, a pun on A loft (as the suite is in a loft) and aloft (as the bed is suspended from the roof). The suite has been completely and loving being rebuilt using the principles of recycle, reuse, repurpose and upcycle. A large part of the ceiling was removed and the rough cut roof trusses were sanded down and a dark finish applied to offset the crisp white walls and floor details. The bed was made out of old trusses from a demolished outbuilding and the headboard from an old single bed. A window bench with a view was made from an unused single wooden bed base and makes a wonderful reading recess, doubling as a comfortable sleeper for an additional guest if required. The floor was sanded down and stencilled with a cottage inspired motif and sealed to protect the finish and to aid cleaning.

The property sits in a natural setting across from the foot of the Bigai (misspelling of “Big eye”) wetland and approximately 50 meters from the entrance to Knysna Golf Course. Within a few kilometres there are several restaurants providing from fine dining to pub food. Leisure isle with its idyllic beaches is less than a five minute drive away. Town centre is roughly five kilometres away. Knysna winter Oyster festival takes place manly around sporting events and one of the main venues Loerie Park is within walking distance.

Fabulous location, excellent breakfast, wonderful friendly staff. Close to excellent shops and restaurants. Great deals at the golf shop on Thesen Island. Cross the causeway to Knisner for access to the beautiful town and waterfront. Fully recommend this beautiful boutique hotel with views over the lagoon.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed here for one night. One of the best hotels we had on our Garden Route trip. Go for the T1 Room and enjoy the great lagoon sunset views. Very friendly staff and great bakery just next to the hotel. We also did a kayak trip in the afternoon as they have their own kayaks for hotel guests. Would loved to stay here longer.
Everything about this place is amazing, we felt really welcome when we arrived and our room was INCREDIBLE! Lots of people book boat rides to watch the sunset but if you are facing the lagoon from your room then I'd highly recommend watching it from your window, it has the best view! You can walk out to the lagoon for a swim and then come straight onto the deck for drinks and food. This was one of the most relaxing places I have ever stayed.
Honestly, this has to be the best place to stay in Kynsna. Incredible location on Thesen island with not only its own bar and restaurant, but right next door to IDP and plenty of other great food joints 50m walk away. No other place to watch the sunset. Special shout out to Allan who was so friendly and attentive in welcoming us and showing us around, as well as giving plenty of good recommendations.
We booked a three-night stay at The Lofts Boutique Hotel as part of a two-week trip to South Africa. The hotel is located on Thesen Island in Knysna, a truly beautiful part of the world. The hotel is set on the edge of the Knysna Estuary and offers stunning views of the water and the surrounding mountains. There were several things that really made The Lofts special for us: the location, the sunsets, and the amazing staff. As soon as we checked in, the warmth and welcome of the hotel team really shone through. Throughout our stay, every single member of staff we came into contact with was nothing short of amazing. They were so friendly, helpful, and genuine. The hotel offers a variety of rooms and suites to choose from, and we treated ourselves to a waterfront room with a balcony. The room was fabulous and really tastefully decorated. It featured everything you would expect from a 4-star hotel. However, the star of the show was the balcony. The view, especially as the sunsets, was really spectacular. The hotel also has a number of amenities, including a small swimming pool, a spa, a guest-only terrace with loungers, and a guest lounge area. You can also borrow canoes and head to the waters during your stay, they have thought of everything! We had breakfast included, and you get a voucher to spend in île de païn or Nest. Both were fantastic, but I preferred Nest as it was a bit calmer. The granola tart was fantastic. We also had dinner and cocktails in Nest Food Bar during our stay, which were sublime. You can check out my full review on my Google profile. Overall, we had an incredible stay at The Lofts Boutique Hotel. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are amazing, and the location is perfect. I would 100% recommend The Lofts to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway in beautiful Knysna. Food & drinks: Nest was fantastic, make sure you stop for dinner!
We had a lovely stay here. The room had a beautiful outlook over the lagoon. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful too. We tried both eateries downstairs Nest and Ile de Pain. Both were nice. Ile de Pain was most definitely our favourite. Their food was very tasty. They had most incredible pastries and cakes too. Not to mention the friendliest staff.
I’m not sure how anyone can give a bad review to this place. It was a amazing experience. They helped us with everything. We thought we had lost one of our shawls. Ellen was able to find it cause we had left it in the dining area. They even couriered it to us in Cape Town.
This is a beautiful Hotel, with excellent staff and a great restaurant. There is also an awesome and devious bakery right next door that cooks all their baked breads and goodies in a wood burning oven. Rooms: Our room was very nice, it had a huge deck that overlooked the water, with a great view. You could sit outside on the deck with a drink and watch the beautiful sunsets. I highly recommend this hotel.
Lovely venue, but cold coffee again, seed bread hard work and expensive to boot. Definitely for tourists
