Had an awesome stay there, the hospitality was out of this world. We pushed boundaries unintentionally and was accommodated. Arrived well after midnight for a wedding, staff was up and ready to serve us… check out time was also adjusted for us… Thank you very much. Rooms were clean.. Beautiful surroundings with a farm…
Not worth even 1 star. Will NOT recommend this place to anyone. Very bad service from trying to make a booking till checkout.
Generally OK, but lacking in some areas. No soap or shampoo in the bathroom. The inside of the kettle was last cleaned years ago, it had things growing inside and stuff floating in the water.
Our 2nd trip to Lydenburg and stay at Amani. Our first experience was not great. The room we stayed in had not hot water and the shower sprayed outside the shower area leaving the entire bathroom floor completely wet. Water even had its way to the bedroom : after complaining we were moved to another room which was a bit more comfortable and had hot water. Our second experience was worse. We were placed back in the same room we stayed in a year ago. The water issues were not sorted. At 9pm after trying to shower in luke warm water beginning of winter we complained again. Noting that the same owners knew our complaints. We were moved again, to another room upstairs and the water was abit hotter but the entire floor in the bathroom was drenched with over spray from the shower. Stepping onto a soaking floor in winter is not pleasant. We brought this to the managers attention. Clearly customers feedback is not very important to Amani. We will definitely not be going back there.
I wish I had more time here, close to a river and water flows just soo soothingRooms: 4/5
Staff was unfriendly. Stayed here because I was on a work trip & they refused to give me the Wi-Fi password. Bathroom didn't have towels. I wouldn't recommend that people stay here.Rooms: 2/5
Definitely not worth trying during loadshedding, no Power back ups no Water and no Hot water !Not looking forward to my last night here.Rooms: 3/5
Once upon a time this was the best place to stay in Lydenburg. My husband's work periodically takes him to this part of the world, so we tend to turn the work trip into a weekend getaway. We've therefore stayed in most of the guest houses in Lydenburg before. Amani was brilliant the previous time we were there a few years back, but not this time. They've lost the great service and attention to detail we remember. We were also put in one of the "new" rooms, next door to the original establishment, which wasn't as nice. Definitely not up to the same 4-star standard as the older rooms. Less secure no boundary wall and a gate left open at night, with a kitchenette area and front door that's shared with an adjacent room. This is not a problem if you're booking both rooms, but is very disruptive if, as in our case, the second room is booked by another guest who keeps opening and closing it when he comes in and out to smoke every half hour. Because the two rooms are pretty much on top of each other, you can also hear everything your neighbour says or does, from telephone calls to TV shows. Everything in the room smelled like wet smoke, which we eventually figured out was because they were burning "green" tree stumps behind our unit. We were two people, but only one towel was provided and the tea / coffee tray was empty. There were someone else's fingerprints and lip marks on one of the glasses. I had to ask the very unprofessional and grumpy receptionist to bring another towel and restock the tea tray. He was singularly unhelpful and pretty damn rude. I actually called the owner to express my disappointment with everything. She thanked me for letting her know and said the staff member at reception is normally not grumpy. Well yay. That really helps me to know. There was loadshedding scheduled for the night we were there South Africa's periodic rolling blackouts when the power utility can't keep up with electricity demand, but there were no candles or a torch in the room. So we sat in the pitch dark and listened to the sound of the generator that runs only at the main house. No filter coffee at breakfast - only instant. The strawberries in the fruit salad were also rotten. Not major, but all the small things add up. On the plus side, there were friendly cats and dogs around, and the place is easy to find. Amani is by no means the worst place we've stayed. But we know how good it COULD be, because it used to be. And so it's very disappointing to see how it's slipped. There are now much better places to stay in Lydenburg.
I think for a boutique hotel I expected a heating system for the size of the room and a hairdryer in the room. Have been back and no improvement after being told will be fixed in a week have nit been done in over a month.
The place has very nice views and garden, bedrooms very nice too but touch-ups needed on cleanliness and the Wi-Fi hardly works. Had a very nice stay though
