Leandra and Frans made our first time stay truly remarkable. We stayed at Assegaaibosch from 23 to 27 December and it was such a fantastic stay we had. This cozy lodge has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts Leandra and Frans delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide wine list and mouth watering meals and deserts. Lots of amenities on site. I highly recommend Assegaaibosch lodge to everyone! Thank you Assegaaibosch Lodge team! Rooms: Extremely spacious room we stayed in the Manor House. The room has a full bathroom with huge shower and bath is extremely huge. There is also a walk through closet to the bathroom. The closet has sufficient shelves and hanging space for jackets or dresses. Hangers are provided. There is also a lockup safe with a key not a keypad which I preferred as the digitized safes are very problematic. As you walk into the room you will be in amazement with the enormous size. Certainly enough space to do back flips in if you want . Not forgetting you are provided with Dstv channels which are ones you actually would watch at home so definitely a bonus if that's what you would like to do. There is also a seating area in the room. Nearby activities: There is lots to do on Assegaaibosch site and the lodge reminded us of your resorts in Mauritios which have all the amenities you would want to keep both adults and kids entertained the entire day. Massive salt water pool which is kept immaculate by Frans on a daily basis which we witnessed for the 5 days we were guests. Huge games room which has the following: Dartboard Table tennis table Pool table If that is not your cup of tea well There is also other choices: Tennis court Volleyball Trampoline Swings See-saw For the fitness enthusiast or if you want to ensure you get fitness points, there is a fully equipped Gym. In the slow area you have A massive big screen tv An array of board games Books to read With all of the above there really is no need to leave once you have checked in at Assegaaibosch lodge. Safety: From the time you drive in at the main entrance gate you already feel the safety aspect. The lodge is secured by electrical fence and very secure. The only thing you would need to be concerned about is the naughty monkeys. But with the ample signs and warnings for guests if you follow the warnings e.g. Close your room windows when leaving. Walkability: There is ample walking space on the land. Forest leisure walk Then an iron man walk Not to mention the grounds at the back of the lodge where it just stretches on and big enough to fly model airplanes or get in those steps. Food & drinks: Wow wow wow that's all I can say. Real homely wholesome meals where your tastebuds are tantalised by the aromas and tastes. The food is truly made with love that goes into every meal prepared. Leandra truly is amazing with the attention to detail for each meal. Dinner is a set menu and each night the menu is different. Dinner is a 3-course meal, yes 3 course. By the time you leave every dinner you have a food coma from all the eating . We spent Christmas at the lodge and if you truly want a Christmas whereby you do nothing then I highly recommend you book for the Assegaaibosch lodge Christmas lunch. You definitely will not be disappointed. From the setup to decor and menu prep, Leandra out did herself again. We kept on telling her from the first day to our departure date that everyday she only out did herself with meals and definetly love which went into each meal. This lunch is not only for guests but people drive from PE and other surrounding areas just to join Assegaaibosch Christmas lunch. It truly was shocking to hear the distance people drive from and that should speak thousands on its own. Lunch has a variety to order from for example: Toasted sandwiches Wraps Burgers Tramezzinis Breakfast is a English breakfast. A must-have is the omelet. Everything is made as ordered so no pre-cooked etc. Freshly made at the hot station and served at your table in the dining area. If you are a word person you are going to love the Kareedouw wors Fully stocked bar Noteworthy details: The one thing that really stood out for us is guests who we met who have been coming back to Assegaaibosch lodge for more than a decade. That in itself is remarkable. The other amazing thing was the warmth, friendliness and helpness all staff showed and this was on a daily basis that we were guests for 5 days. Leandra and Frans were remarkable from the day we arrived that when we had to leave it was sad for us, but I guess all good things have to come to an end. Noteworthy thing is if you are planning to be wed in 2024, contact Leandra who is capable and wears another hat of an event coordinator as well. The chapel to thereception area which is in the forest makes this a fairy tale setting and which bride does not want a fairy tale wedding.
What a lovely place! Would have been nice if the receptionist and the bar man was friendly! They were really rude and surely did not made us feel at home! Its such a pity! Our kids wanted to swim..., but according to the "owner's" rules only residents are allowed. What makes this upsetting is we were the ONLY people in the "lodge" for 3hours! What a shame! We had lunch 16 people and the food was amazing! Waiters great! Bar man super bad! Receptionist.... what can I say! Upsetting!!! We will unfortunately not visit them again!!!
Hi All after 14 years of coming to ASSEGAIBOSCH we can only say it's still as good today as it was 14 years ago. If not better. Staff are friendly and accommodating the food is good as always. We look forward to our next visit in 2024.Rooms: 5/5
I just stayed over for the weekend don't think one has to look further for a wedding venue just stunning . The service we received from Antonette was really good both her and her partner very welcoming and the peacefulness and tranquility of this place is a must in a less traveled town of Kareedouw. Will definitely be back for longer Rooms: clean nice layout spacious
This was our second visit to Assegaaibosch and certainly not our last. This is old and modern charm combined with the most beautiful setting for a wedding or any celebration. Pictures don't describe the magic of the forest, the wedding chapel and hall where the function is being held. Romantic is a lovely word to describe it. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was delicious! The rooms are spacious with the most comfortable beds and there are lots of entertainment areas for groups.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in earlier and stay a bit longer after checkout! Can also recommend the breakfast and large rooms. The dinner was average. Generally great place if - like us - your passing through and want to be in nature :
I stayed over for a wedding which Assegaaibosch catered for. Stunning location and wedding venue. The food was good and plentiful. The breakfast was delicious, especially the famous Kareedouw sausages My only complaint is that the room was poorly lit and felt a bit gloomy. Thank you to the staff who are very helpful and friendly.
Very nice location and the pizzas they make was very good. Breakfast not so good and the staff really unfriendly. When we arrived on the fryday the resectionist was fine but did not see her again, the rest of the staff really need to work on there people skills. Don't think we wil go again.Rooms: 4/5
We visited Assegaai Lodge this weekend for a wedding. When we stopped outside the gate we didn't expect too much but we were pleasantly surprised once inside. Its very beautiful and well kept and the food was absolutely divine. The beds are very comfortable and the shower roomy. The shower head is not too big but there is a lot of space and also added bars to hold onto so that you don't slip. Their breakfast is worldclass and I probably had the best croissants ever. The pool is stunning and their wedding chapel is gorgeous. Guests get to walk through a part of the forest which gives it a magical feeling into the chapel. The food at the venue was amazing and the service excellent at the bar. All the staff we encountered was very friendly and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at Assegaai. The only downpart was loadshedding. They have generators running the lights but not the plugs or geysers. This made it difficult in planning to get ready for a wedding when the power was out for 4 hours before the wedding started so doing your hair was difficult.
We had a fantastic stay there, thank you!Rooms: 5/5
