The people here are so friendly and helpful. They really did go out of their way to make sure you had a great stay. Facilities whilst still under construction is well kept and clean. We stayed in the mountain chalet. 3 words: personal hot tub. Made my whole weekend!Rooms: 5/5
I would highly recommend this establishment for anyone seriously in need of unwinding. The facilities are top class. The staff helpful and friendly as can be and the scenery and activities are just what one needs to relax. Loved my stay here.Rooms: 5/5
If you are looking for a hot spring holiday in the Western Cape - look no further. Avalon Springs is the perfect escape from the outside world. It has warm and cool pools, they are open all day and night. except for 1 hour where they are cleaned There is a restaurant, shop, take away and bar area as well as various private and shared braai facilities. It is perfect for kids of all ages, there are water slides and baby pools, as well as a big waterslide for the more adventurous ones. There is putt putt, a huge chess board, there are hikes and walks that can be done from Avalon Springs. It is also close to some great climbing spots. As for accommodation, they offer various bed and breakfast options as well as self catering apartments and mountain chalets.
Never explained they busy with renovation, other wise we wouldn't have book as there are only three pools available. Felt like a sardine fish no space to swim. Sand got into the pumps so water was dirty, no one to clean the pools as leaves just keeps falling in it. Just very disappointed in our stay as we love hot springs and that's why we paid for three nights thinking we have to experience everything they have to offer but naaaa Maybe after December once renovation is done they can redeem themselves.
Let me start off that during our stay, construction of the new improved area was still in its final stages of completion, so we did not get to sample the slide side. However saying that...this was quite possibly one of the best holidays we have ever had as a family of 4! To begin with, the check in process was easy and so relaxing, those smiles when you walk through the reception door relax you instantly, after a longish drive it's exactly what you need, with complimentary popcorn and a bevvie...all was smooth sailing. We collected our keys and arms bands and after being offered help with our luggage we checked into our self catering accommodation. And it was as expected, a very pleasant apartment equipped for exactly what we needed for our 7 day break, a big comfy main bed, 2 other rooms with bunk beds, the kids were happy! We swiftly unpacked and headed for the pools...natural springs pools with a temp of approx 40 degrees was bliss on the year 2022's stresses. The environment as a whole brings that old school family entertainment, time together as a family, I have 2 kiddies and they did the usual made friends of all different age groups, took part in some of the activities presented by Monique awesome chick and enjoyed the swimming and play park over in Montague Springs. We took part in the bingo and quiz night, and my biggest disappointment was that other families didn't get involved, we had a great time, our family had a good laugh and enjoyed our time together. I am certain that Avalon Springs has a secret customer service Academy hidden in its depths, every single person we encountered greeted us and many stopped to check we are okay and enjoying our holiday! Nothing is too much and the customer service was phenomenal I work in a customer service role A special shout out to Valda Guest relations and the reception team who were nothing but amazing You made our holiday a home and we were sad to be leaving...but now I think we have found our family holiday destination for the future! Thank you Avalon Springs for the wholesome family holiday! We created so many amazing memories!
Been coming for many years, place definitely dropping in standard. My room wasn't cleaned properly on check-in, worse let down was the absence of warm spring water, pools were well below the normal temperatures and no constant flow of water.Rooms: 2/5
Stayed in the hotel and not the chalets. Rooms were tiny. Double bed in one room and bunk beds in the other two rooms. Windows urgently need to be replaced and curtains need to be washed. Shower is small and uncomfortable. Wi-Fi unstable. The only attraction is the warm pools, which I don’t think is worth the long drive. There was also a resident cat lurking in the hallways of the hotel that chased me and my 3 year old.
It is a construction site, noise, dust and disruption all the time. I booked for 2 nights, stayed 1 and left. Hotel is dated, old and not well maintained. Pool was ok but not great. Upside is the staff are super friendly and helpful. Not my idea of a city break, I won't be back.
The service and care I and my family received at Avalon Springs Hotel & Resort from 28 Oct - 30 Oct 2023 I booked 2 Garden Suites was Excellent. I took my entire family on a mini vacation this past weekend to celebrate my Husband's Birthday Saturday, 29 Oct 2022 and I wanted it to be relaxing and perfect . Avalon Springs Hotel & Resort staff did not disappoint at all. From the reception staff, the lovely lady handing out the welcome drinks and sweeties and popcorn for the kids, the staff in Cogmans Restaurant, the counter staff at the Pool side Cafe, as well as the housekeeping lady, were the most polite and lovely people, we felt like it was a home away from home, we were treated with such respect and friendliness, it was really a lovely treat being at this hotel. Even though there is construction happening, we still enjoyed our stay and did not feel in the least bit inconvenienced, the pools were amazing. Every staff member with whom we came in contact with, was attentive and kind. We have already decided to return to Avalon Springs for our family Easter 2023 Long Weekend and look forward to enjoying the new pools and amenities once construction is completed. We had a wonderful mini vacation, such awesome value for money, and I will not hesitate to recommend Avalon Springs Hotel & Resort to all of my colleagues, friends and family. Thank you again for such outstanding service.
