Montagu Springs

As having travelled extensively throughout South Africa. I must say I can't say why I have not visited this resort a long time ago. I was really impressed with just about all on my brief visitor. The management, staff, security and even the guests were absolutely outstanding, friendly and helpful. The resort itself with it awesome layout and setting in amongst the mountains where really awesome to observe. The hotel complex and its facilities where also outstanding and the staff were also great and friendly and very helpful. I really and truly mean this. Whether you are a South African or an International Tourist. This resort is a definite for you to book. You really won't be dissapointed. From my side this resort definitely get two thumbs up from me and thank you Lisa for the great hospitality. You really made me feel welcome on my brief visit. Thank you

We enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The chalet was clean and very comfortable and had everything you needed. The grounds and facilities are well cared for and beautiful. The scenery is exquisite . We can really recommend Montagu Springs Resort for your next vacation.Rooms: 5/5

We enjoyed our break away to the full! We do hope that the heat of the pools can be increased by a few degrees by the time we repeat our visit! We understand that loadshedding has messed things up, but hopefully things can be sorted out to provide the main attraction fully operational...Rooms: 5/5

A stunning location amongst the mountains, and a great holiday venue for families. The Small Plettenbergs are nice and cosy, and has all the basics for a getaway. The hot springs pool is nice, but the only downside of it in my opinion is that it is not warm enough for the cold winter nights. The one at Avalon Springs is a bit warmer though

Montagu Springs is a good place to stay for a while. The Rooms are nicely cleaned, service was good. But location is far away from my town. It wasn't really worth the petrol. It was also expensive but it was nice.Rooms: 4/5

This is our family getaway place. We enjoy the pools, bike riding and playing tennis and some soccer. I would suggest adding another heated pool or changing the one in the Golden terrace into one. We have been there 4 years in a row and never used that pool because of the cold. Rooms: Very neat and spacious

Unfortunately the images was deceiving and when arrived I was not given the villa I booked. After explaining to the staff they then moved me into another villa which was not cleaned well , old and dusty marks on the walls and scratches on furniture. Beautiful scenic view but the stay was not comfortable.Rooms: 2/5

The Plettenberg Chalet we stayed in was clean but oh my word! The smell!! It hit us like a train.. I can't even put my finger on it.. it was like a mix between damp air and rotten fish! We actually drove into town to buy incense sticks which we lit the entire time we were there. The drawers in the fridge door were missing and the plug in the twin room didn't work. They really need a serious upgrade. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay. Would have been nice if the pools were warm though! Would we come back? No. Rather pay a bit more and go to Goudini Spa! I've actually come back to update my review to even worse.. once we got home we realised that the stench from the Chalte has seeped into all of our clothes and shoes and bags.. I'm having to wash the clean clothes that I didn't even wear and needing to get some jackets dry cleaned. I will never ever EVER return!!!!!!

We go on holiday to get away from load shedding hut it followed us here. The first large cabin we booked had cum stains on the couch. We we're thankfully able to upgrade to Josmond Heights which really wasn't worth the money. The pools at Montagu are small and the hot water pool doesn't heat up because of load shedding. Then, if you pay R80 per a person they allow you at Avalon Springs, in tiny Luke warm pools and that's the most you're gonna get out of it. Even the slip n slide was half-baked and you couldn't slide without pulling yourself forward. What a pathetic place this resort has become, would never recommended anyone to spend the money or time driving out, go to goudini instead.

Chalets are moldy and outdated! No lamps for load shedding only candles which is a huge fire risk given that the chalet is nutec. Gas Geyser is no good, you either freeze or burn your skin off, there's no in-between.All warm pools are more cold than warm and not operational during load shedding. There has also not been any maintenance done in the river as reeds are so high u cannot see anything. And no bird life at all!
