Most of the staff were indifferent and were unfriendly. It is definitely just a job for them. The air-conditioner in the room was very loud when switched on and the mini bar fridge was extremely noisy. Staff did not seem very knowledgeable about the history of this historical hotel and surrounds. The communal bars were under stocked lacked variety. I got the sense that staff were subtlely rushing the breakfast crowd because the restaurant was packed in the morning rush. Hotel staff allow patrons to park their cars over night in the drop off zone at the hotel entrance. This is an irritating inconvenience for considerate patrons. The natural beauty of the surroundings and tranquil atmosphere compensated for the 2 star service and the natural warm Victorian bath and rock pools were divine and pleasantly not full perhaps because it was raining. This more than made up for the lackluster service. The food served at the Blue Crane and Black Sheep Diner restaurants were delicious. I will go back for the hotsprings but the staff requires some serious training. Nearby activities: We were not sure where to go as the hotel staff had little knowledge of activities.
Me and my family come to Caledon Hotel and spa every once per quarter . And we really enjoy our time there. Everything is great. Great food, great adventure and great staff I noticed some rude guest, but staff is equipped to handle their rudeness. Well done
The hot springs are wonderful and highly recommend. However picnics and snacks are not allowed and the restaurant in the hotel was not very welcoming. There is no children's menu and the staff were not helpful. The nearest food outlet that was suitable was in Caledon town..Wimpy. The experience could be well improved by responding to the needs of day visitors...picnic hampers or a good cafe food outlet and then it's 5 stars plus from me.
I went on a weekday and still found that the hot springs were very full. There's not enough space in the hotsprings for the amount of guests that make use of it. They should consider expanding some of the pool sizes at the topLocation: 5/5
Lovely place, amazing hot springs with some of the hottest water, rooms are amazing, TV, no loadshedding and buffet breakfast. Staff was super kind and explained everything, only like 2 food places and the blue crane is only open for breakfast so you have to walk to the casino in order to get food, which was ok. Overall great experience, needed no longer than the one day we stayed! Safety: Plenty of security and lifeguards who where also friendly
The bathrooms are not the cleanest & require some tlc. The hotel staff are super willing to assist and are very warm and welcoming. However, some front desk staff require training. The spa staff should promote the use of the spa facilities post treatments to elevate the spa experience. Great spot to unwind & will return. Rooms: Spacious for couples Safety: The entire property is safe, and the enclosed space for vehicle onsite parking. There are also visible security guards at the entrance and exit of the building.
Not child friendly. The only amazing thing about this place is the hot pools. There are no places to put your towels, no day beds to relax after swimming. Most of the hot pools is way to hot for kids. The only pool that has a kids pool is the cold pool which is ice cold and makes being at the hot springs pointless. The breakfast is very basic. The place definitely needs a revamp. The pools are also very slippery. Restaurants in hotel are very average. Will not go again.
The experience was ok. I always have my reservations booking one of the rooms. It's extremely noisy... you can't really relax. People next door or across rooms keep banging their doors, talking loudly in the passage and playing their TV in the room unbearably loud at night. They should tell people that upon check-in cos it's frustrating. The hot springs were lovely as usual although it was quite packed because of the Easter break. Buffet breakfast can use more imagination. They are not really equipped well with an influx of people coming to eat. There wasn't enough cutlery. But the serving staff was very friendly. Would be nice if there were more than 2 restaurants on site. The one serves basic meals..not much of a choice. The rooms need major change. The carpet smells bad in the room. Cupboards have seen their days..old, chipped and ugly. Don't like the R200 refundable deposit for towels. I've seen similar reviews by others on the same issues so I doubt anything will be done about it
I had a different picture in my mind when booking this place, the spa, baths, grounds are incredible, however this is as far as my compliments go. Unfortunately our superior room was well worn, felt like it needs an upgrade. The partitions between our room and the neighbours were down, so when they spoke it felt like it was right in our space. Definitely not a romantic setting as advertised. The entire hotel and casino area looks like it needs a little more love. For the price you pay, you don’t want a warn out room. Not something I would do again. Would probably do a day trip to the spa. It’s kid friendly, with pools, games room, quad biking. Not a couple mission.
Just came to swim. Pools are great and HOT . Kids enjoyed it but it’s quite pricey didn’t spend more than an hour then we we’re fulfilledService: 5/5
