Have changed to Avis for car rental from thrifty . Sipho takes the trophy. He is great. Wish he can be cloned
They were dishonest with me about my grace period allowance despite me calling an hour ahead to inform them I would be slightly late. When I called to find out I called more than once by the way, I was informed that I would be charged an extra day so I decided to just keep the car and drop it off the next day 21/09/2022. My mother who worked at budget from 2000/1 till about 2008 was the one who informed that I should in fact have a grace period. I then phoned them for the 3rd or 4th time on the day I was meant to deliver the car 20/09/2022 to ask about the grace period and Sipho/Siya confirmed that I indeed do have one. I proceeded to ask why I was not informed about this in my calls and he said to me “we tell every customer about the grace period”. This enraged me a great deal because nobody did that. I mentioned the different people I spoke to and I was told that they don’t work there. These are people I spoke to via the Nelspruit number. Pressed 1 for amending reservations and pressed 1 again for Avis customer. That’s how I even managed to book the car to begin with. How should that affect a company wide policy? Everybody I spoke to should have spoken the same language. When I arrived at the branch completely enraged, I was condescended to. Asked silly and frankly empty questions. Asked “how do you suggest we fix this?” as if I work there when they should be the ones doing the problem solving. I had already told Sipho/Siya that I would like to speak to the manager over the phone. It was only once I was shouting down their office that they took me *somewhat* seriously and called Sam to come and troubleshoot. I spoke to him and explained the situation. He then asked if they all had my booking reservation # and sure enough, that was the case. He asked Sipho/Siya if he had it and he looked at my rental agreement and he confirmed. It was then discovered that I more than qualified for the grace period. Sam was gracious enough to waive all the extra costs because I was going to make it within the time frame of the grace period. I appreciate Sam’s assistance but on the day I went to deliver the car, Sipho/Siya did not inform his colleague who was not there the day before on the 20/09/2022 and so she almost ended up charging me for fees that I was informed were waived. I was then told that Sam is the only one who can do that on the system. Why didn’t they tell me that on the 20th? I now have to return there a 3rd day because my contract still has not been closed and I do not have my final invoice. What a distressing and incredibly inconvenient exercise this has all been. I am thankful to Sam for clarifying the matter but the service I received will ensure I do not book a car with them every again.
Good service. Just don't try to call them. Their phone system doesn't work. Had to drive there to get a problem fixed.

Shocking service! They don't have any vehicles is what I was told when I phoned for a rental, the guy said they could help me the next day which was of no help at all. I asked him if I can't find a car elsewhere if they could bring me a car the next day and he said no they can't! Phoned their local competitor Simplify Vehicle rentals who brought me a car immediately Friday 17:00pm with no excuses and collected it again on Monday morning at 7:30.

Watch out they can do anything just to claim for damages that are non existent, I think that's how they make most money. The branch manager Sam will try to reason with you until you give up the fight. They took money for damages from my credit card, I'm still waiting for my rental deposit since the 11th Sept.Bloody skelms
We were very pleased with the service and responsible attitude of this AVIS office. We had a pleasure to be working with Antony who was courteous, pleasant, patient and very professional. The car was prepared for us in a timely manner, the check-out process was efficient and not rushed, and we enjoyed our 21-day rental. Despite of other negative comments left by other guests, for us personally hiring from AVIS and especially from this office was a pleasant experience, and we can certainly recommend this company and location based on the positive outcome and attitude. Thank you!
