Bateleur Bushveld Camp

If you want peace and quite and get away from the crowds, this is the place. A remote camp with only 7 chalets. Roads around the camp are only for use of quests and there is no cell phone reception, adding to the remote feeling. Note that there is no restaurant nor food for sale. Only ice and firewood are available at reception. The nearest basic shop is at Shingwedzi about an hours drive via gravel. A birders paradise and at a dam in the area you will see a lot of game including hippo. The camp is well managed and well maintained and is free from monkeys. The thatched chalets with a huge front porch add to the African bush experience. The one camp in Kruger I will return to.

In my opinion the very best of the bushveld camps. It is the smallest of the bushveld camps and truly makes you feel away from it all. Had the best wild dog sightings very near the camp. If you have to choose only one bushveld camp let it be Bateleur!

The camp is lovely with only 7 houses. Your kitchen is on the stoep and we also had a small freezer. Accommodation was clean and well kept. There are 2 dams near the camp where we enjoyed beautiful sunset drives and had lots of fun watching the animal activities.

I am rating this camp a 4 for one reason only, the place is "tired". It needs some maintenance. As far as the location is concerned it's a 10 out of 10 for those who want peace and quiet far from civilization. This is not the first time we have stayed there and it won't be the last.

Small, perfectly appointed camp. We loved our stay here and left wishing for a night or 2 more. Lolly at reception was always helpful, Vivian one of the camp assistants was very friendly and our sunset drive with Promise was thoroughly enjoyable. She was very knowledgeable.

Great camp. Clean accommodation. Very friendly and helpful on reception. Cleaning lady even came and got us to show is a tiny African Scops Owl roosting in a tree outside another unit! Definitely "above and beyond"

We had a special stay at Bataleur and particularly enjoyed the remoteness of the camp. Stafff were always very friendly and a pleasure to have around. Night game drive with Promise was incredible. We will definitely be back.

Quite unique in that there are only 7 chalets. The two dams provide great game viewing Staff very friendly and well informed. Birding is spectacular Best of all no email or mobile connectivity Camp has 24 hour hide overlooking small watering hole Really feel as you are in the bush

Quiet camp tucked away from the main roads. Only 7 or 8 chalets. Will visit again. A trip to the nearby dam 6km is a must

A wonderful mix of functional functional, everything works, the beds are comfortable, the staff are attentive and efficient, and the environment in the camp is totally relaxing. Could easily have spent a few nights more after only two.
