Established in 1984 in the heart of Durban, the Bavarian Butchery and Delicatessen has a rich heritage that has been maintained and even bettered over the years.
A true German experience that allows consumers to enjoy the carefully executed recipes. From delicious eisbeins to tasty sauerkraut and smoked ribs.
Roland Reichelt and Yolanda van Zyl bought the business on the first of December 2010. Roland, a true German Fleischmeister, excitedly brought his recipes into production whilst his wife applied her marketing skills and embraced the German way of perfecting meat. Together they decided to move out of the city and make their home in Salt Rock. Occupying a space in the local Superette, they grew into a local favorite, whilst still giving customers that travel from Durban for their meat, the same excellent service.
Roland unfortunately passed on in the beginning of 2015 but Yolanda has decided that his legacy will live on through the business. Armed with Roland’s recipes and love for food, this Afrikaner woman is honoring their memories and hard work by giving every piece of meat the same attention that they always have. Her new shop is now located at 60 Basil Hulett Drive, Mall 505 - Right opposite the Caltex Garage in Salt Rock.
