Bayshore Marina

About

The largest custom built Marina on the Vaal Dam. Walk-on Moorings, Boat Lockers and Waterside refuelling.

Description

Bayshore Marina was started in 1990. The vision is to create the most comprehensive and fun filled marina environment close to Johannesburg. The marina took almost three years to build and Mr John Pilling, a mechanical engineer, designed the structure and the facilities. The size was decided upon in conjunction with various marinas in the UK (as they had the knowledge at the time) and construction began. Over 440,000 cubic metres of earth was either moved or used to create the outer walls of the harbour. The marina was commissioned in 1993 and opened itself to the public. During this time the developers had started construction of the adjacent village Sunset Cove, and completed 96 prime houses.
The Marina is the largest, custom built, inland marina where you can refuel by boat, on the Gauteng side of the Vaal Dam.

Beautiful place. Took my wife here on our very first date and here we are 28 years later. I Always visit anytime I get a chance to travel to NY. Still Georgous. Those are my three daughters in the picture.
We love going to Bay Shore Marina. It's a great place to go sit by the water and decompress. It's clean, there is a nice water park for the kids, a small beach area, food, beautiful views but the best thing about it is the atmosphere. It's a great place to go relax and clear your head.
Wonderful place to go any time of year. The sunsets are beautiful. You can relax while looking at Fire Island across the Bay. Some people fish there while others play basketball or go swimming in the designated area. The kids have a mini water park to enjoy as well.
Really did a great job renovating .
Great place to relax, refresh and rewind
I have been going to this marina all my life and my children who are now adults spent a lot of time as children here. A lot has changed for the better. Manu improvements made and it's well maintained. The addition of the water park is great as well. My granddaughter loves the zip line they have.
This is a great place to come bring your own lunch, sit in your car and enjoy the beautiful view. You can watch the ferries come and go, feed the seagulls if you'd like.
Had a great time with my son. Nice breeze and vibe
it's a beautiful quiet place before summer time hits. I enjoy the scenery and peaceful atmosphere. you can get a 30$ recreational card to enter the marina after the 26th of june Islip residents bit before then, free admission and lots of quiet time.
When you need to get some respite, go feed the seagulls, find some seaglass, smell the ocean, the marina is just close enough to enjoy mother nature.
