I heard they were the best for Southern African 4x4 rentals and I was not disappointed. The Toyota is one of the most capable 4x4 vehicles I have driven. I usually hate camping, but the wonderful sunrise and sunset views from the rooftop tents, plus all the kit we needed being both included, and very organised quickly converted me. We did some quite remote tracks in Zimbabwe, and now the family are full of confidence the 4 of us are already planning a more adventurous return trip.
We have hired a so-called CruCAM from Bushlore in November/December 2021 from their office in Windhoek/Namibia. They picked us up from the airport going directly to their office and parking area in Windhoek. The vehicle is based on the Toyota Landcruiser 79 platform which is the ideal vehicle for discovering the wilderness in Africa. The added camper system for 2 persons is not missing anything and one can see that a lot of experience went into the various camper and technical equipment which has been added to the vehicle. Most of all the CruCAM with its diesel engine is an incredible reliable car which makes it the best travel companion for going to remote places. With a little practice for special driving conditions e.g. check out YouTube for various videos explaining the dos and don'ts of off-road, deep sand and 4WD driving, etc. you will enjoy every second of your self drive safari. When taking over the CruCAM in Windhoek every single piece and topic of the vehicle has been explained to us. The team there was very friendly and helpful, no problem to ask any kind of question which comes to your mind. Despite other rental firms we had the strong feeling that the vehicles are well maintained and in good shape. Do not compare the mileage of the car with normal passenger vehicles as such Landcruisers can handle much more mileage and will still be on good shape. There you will find a comprehensive listing, pictures and video clips explaining how the vehicle looks like and how all the camping features can be used. One might say that the daily rate is not so cheap, but you will not need further money for accommodation anymore and it is much easier to find free spaces on camp sides or lodges with camp sides even in high season at moderate prices. The experience to wake up in very remote places early in the morning, enjoying the first sunrays touching the fresh air, hearing all kinds of birds and animals without the disturbance of city and traffic noise, and seeing real wildlife in its natural environment was almost a life changing holiday experience for us. Thanks to Bushlore we have enjoyed all this knowing that we have this reliable and well-thought-out CruCAm Bushcamper. Returning was as easy as picking up the car. They checked again if everything is still working and in place. What I liked most was the question based on our travel experience if we would be missing something or how the vehicle and its camping equipment could be improved. They are constantly trying to enhance the vehicle by asking their clients for potential improvements. We will for sure come back to Bushlore as there is still a lot to discover in Namibia and other countries in southern Africa. We rented a Land Cruiser for 90 days, drove on the most remote tracks 17’000km to Tanzania and back. We were very impressed by the overland equipment of the car and its quality. The extra cost issues due to mechanical problems in this long journey were resolved professionally by Bushlore. We highly recommend this company.
I rented a Toyota Hilux 4x4 Camper from their Cape Town branch. The service was amazing from the start. It is good value for money and it was the perfect "all I need to bring is myself, food and clothes" solution for someone like me who has no camping equipment. Clyde was very helpful when doing the quotation and the booking and receiving the vehicle at the Cape Town branch was a breeze and everything was carefully explained to me. As expected from a Toyota 4x4.. the vehicle was extremely capable and did everything I needed it to. 5/5 would recommend if you're keen on going on an adventure and you do not have your own equipment.
This is without a doubt the best rental car company I have ever encountered. We booked a 4x4 including roof tent and equipment for an 8000km trip through six countries in April last year, and both quality of the car and the service were nothing but great, unbelievably great. We rented the newest model of the Toyota Landcruiser with an amazing pop up tent. The car war in perfect condition. The Pick up in Johannesburg and return in Windhoek was flawless. The communication was easy and promptly. We definitely come back and rent Landcruiser for our next adventure. Highly recommend car rental.
Exceptional experience from start to finish. An exemplar for how all car rental companies should operate. Return transfers to the airport arranged. Really helpful staff, willing to respond to enquiries promptly and very well equipped vehicles.
Mixed feeling. In one hand, the 4x4 cars are pretty good and well maintained but on the other hand, the service is a huge disappointment. At the edge of being rude and unfriendly especially with one of the manager Dieter. He didn't even bother to say "hi", his emails were example of cold blooded manager who doesn't care about his customers We had an issue about the gas tank: remember to check the level of the gas tank, fill it up immediately at the gas station before starting your trip and keep the receipt. I would not recommend bushlore South Africa but bushlore Namibia was better
I can’t say enough how impressed I was with our Bushlore experience. We rented a Hilux for 41 days for our honeymoon and all I can say is if you are thinking about using Bushlore just do it. From Capetown through Namibia and Botswana and back to Joburg and the entire time Bushlore exceeded my expectations. We visited Bushlore Capetown, Kasane, Maun and Joburg and every time we were greeted by friendly, competent staff willing to go out of their way to help us. Pick up and return were both fast, easy and safe. You can tell Bushlore has put a lot of thought and effort into the kit they provide you with. There were numerous times in the bush where I said, “oh I wish we had a....” and my wife said “we do it’s in the back of the truck.” I did my research and got a number of quotes when looking to rent a 4x4 and at the end of the day spending a little bit more money for a hassle free trip knowing a good company has your back was totally worth it in my opinion. Our trip was amazing and I can not wait to get back out there again. A sincere thank you to Bushlore and everyone who works there.
Rented a Hilux for 37 days. It was a surprisingly new vehicle and clearly well maintained. Thorough orientation to off-road equipment given. Vehicle performed admirable throughout some tough driving conditions. Would absolutely recommend Bushlore to a friend and hope to use them again!
