I had to find a place for 2 nights until my apartment was ready. Big Blue had the most competitive pricing and I could find a single room with a bathroom. Very grateful as I'm to old to do the dorm thing. It was comfortable enough for what I needed. A pity the shower was not clean. I had to scrub all the mould and dirt before I could take a shower. Staff was friendly and it was not noisy at night.
Awesome experience, Elsie and the rest of the staff are super kind and thoughtful, working hard to keep everything in order. Nice facilities, I could even setup my desktop computer and leave it there for the whole of my stay. I would highly recommend this place to a friend.
Don't consider this place for your daughter or as a solo female traveller. The security is not up to standard. Had to leave due to threats from other guests, they are locals working nearby and not tourists. They won't refund the prepaid amount either. Rather go to one of the other hostels nearby where they have strict security for female dorms.
Nice place. Lady at the reception is awesome. So the permanent guests can be very rowdy. Walked in at night and one lady was sleeping on the couch upstairs which worried me a bit. The showers require maintenance. There aren't any Male toilets and bathrooms upstairs, you must walk all the way down the stairs which irritated me.Rooms: 2/5
The place is clean, the lady at reception was really nice, my next stay in Green Point will definitely be at Big Blue Backpackers. The check in time is perfect, 11am I think for early arrivals. Keep it up
We've been back and forth a number of times due to my operation and everytime we stay at our Big Blue, home away from home the reason I say this is because it's a very chilled environment, relaxed easy going staff that go out of there way to attend to your needs. The Old Lady Big Blue has so many spacious yet cozy rooms and everyone welcome the two dogs one, looks like pittie cross & then I other a wire terrier I think complete the family and are very friendly, yet protective over the guests. The Old Lady has everything you need from WiFi which unlike other places,you are always connected except for the kitchen I think that it was planned that way to pool &ping pong, awesome bar little expensive if you are from S.A. but cheap for international guests. The kitchen is nice and spacious allowing quiet a few people to do there thing and they have a everything you need in a kitchen as well as a stove and not one but two stove tops 8 plates, I could go on about how good the staff, Owner & GM are as well as the Old Lady but it wouldn't do justice, you really need to come see for yourself and relax around the pool while the bar lady whips you up one of her own home made cocktails. Absolutely awesome Management and Staff and doggies.
Big Blues.. yeah this backpackers was awesome. Met alot of down to earth people. Always a vibe and different personalities. The staff are awesome and always there if you need help with anything. Nice clean place.. and price wise very good.
Absolutely basic, cost cutting and fair deal place to sleep. Clean decent, but old and worn. No complaints.
Well located, great rates, comfortable and warm beds, clean bathroom, kitchen and free breakfast. I was lucky enough to meet people who became great friends. Loved the relaxed atmosphere and staff, very accommodating to all and everybody. It is a place with a lot of attitude. Nice pool and free coffee!
I would rate this place awful as I was treated so badly by the manager. I’ve travelled around and don’t mind where I stay. However the way the manager at this place made me feel so uncomfortable I would not recommend this place to anyone. Please find a more suitable place as manners and respect are foundations. They wouldn’t let me sleep properly, I was Harrased and he even called the police to kick me out just because he didn’t like me And when I said I’d leave give me a refund he didn’t want to he just wanted me to leave. Police couldn’t do anything as I had paid. Find somewhere safe and enjoy the cape otherwise lovely place.
