Casa do Sol Hotel & Resort is situated within the 500 hectare "Ilanga Nature & Game Reserve"this luxury estate hotel is the destination of choice for a large variety of travelers.
The hotel is made up of Casa's, Villa's, Twin & Double Suites and one "Casa Grande". All rooms have bathrooms en-suite. The Casa's lead out to lush flower gardens, whilst the Villa's have private gardens or terraces overlooking the valley. The Suites each have an entrance hall, spacious sitting room, luxury bathroom and a private patio with views of the valley.

Restaurant Cozinha Velha is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Chiquitas cocktail bar spills out onto the terrace where you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink under the stars

The crystal waters of the two swimming pools are surrounded by luscious tropical gardens renowned for vibrant colors and serene beauty

It is very good place to relax and has good atmosphere. It was good value for money with the dinner and breakfast included. The food was delicious. The rooms were clean and very well looked after. The only downside was that the bathroom had very bad odour, detail cleaning is needed. No airfreshner supplied but staff had good customer service. They are very friendly and kitchen staff were very friendly.
A beautiful old hotel 1968 set in lush gardens. Kitchen staff tend to talk loudly and don't realize that customers hear their voices. Whilst showering at any given time, water can get hot or cold. Overall clean and had a pleasant stay.
This hotel does not meet international standards anymore. Maybe good for locals but unless you get a very low price it s not worth it. This hotel is declining fast. Rooms are getting old, bathrooms especially, grounds are sub par, restaurant is cafeteria level, access road is in very rough shape. Staff is kind, but likely not properly trained for a stated 4 star hotel.
A hotel and Spa no spa by the way to avoid! Room 1: nice size suite with strong musty smell. AC was old and loud but did not cool down the room. No WiFi in the room we were told to go to the pool area for WiFi! In-room TV only worked with WiFi!!! After heaving rain, water was dripping in luggage and on floor. A lot of water. We asked to be moved. They were very surprised but found us a small room Room 2 with working AC! Unfortunately the shower head was broken so shower was very hard to take. The sink faucet sprayed water everywhere,… Restaurant was flooded because of the rain but we could still have a very mediocre dinner. Years ago, it must have been a great hotel but lack of maintenance and updates makes it a terrible place to stay.
The hotel is a total mess, No bottled water in the rooms We were told that Hotel Management did not order, Breakfast was a total disaster, not appealing, No fresh fruits, the fruitcocktail had apples only and oh my!! Just plain yoghurt, everyone was subjected to an orange juice, no other options,Rooms: 2/5
It's in mpumalanga staff members are very friendly the garden is amazing food was divine i was there for a baby shower didn't sleep over but i wish I had the place looked very neat they have monkeys its a dream place if you love nature
Very tranquil Greek style resort. Great scenery and excellent for people who love the outdoors.
I have only been to the Coffee Shop called Shiloh previously ages ago. Girlfriend and I wanted to go again and have a Shandy on a hot day and a bite to eat, only to discover that they only have alcohol free beer and Savannah. Plan B. We go to the hotel itself, surely they will have real beer there. They do. Shandys all round while we take a look at the menu. Tourist prices taken to the next level. The ribs and wings combo seemed appealing and at R195.00 we assumed it would be enough for us to share. We asked if this was ok. It was but it turns out the meal consists of only 3 wings and 3 ribs! Ok, plan C. I get that meal and girlfriend orders her own meal. Portuguese quarter chicken with chips it is. R115.00. That sorted, we took in the beautiful scenery while sipping our Shandys. My anticipation was high for the food. At that price and quantity, I am expecting the most heavenly ribs and wings I've ever had. But alas, the opposite was true. You've had something like that before in some remote pub, rubbery ribs and bitter tiny wings. The chips were good though, would have been better if they were put on the same time as the meat. As far as the service was concerned, it was disjointed and a bit awkward, considering we were the only guests there with, 4 different staff coming to do something at our table. "Portuguese Chicken" was not quite that on par either. Perhaps we came at a bad time, around 12h30 on a Thursday, but I don't think so as the coffee shop was quite busy. I got the impression that this is one of those establishments that can put out rubbish, and sustain it, due to the amount of international traveller's passing through. Unless you have too much money, are desperately starving and have absolutely no other option and can handle the disappointment, avoid.
Flies are a big problem, they are on the food, on the walls, everywhere. While you eat you have to wave them away. Overall the whole place feels neglected and dirty.
Spanish themed hotel with spacious and clean rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Pool and tennis courts on site. Also a must visit Shiloh Coffee Shop right next door.Rooms: 4/5
