City Lodge Sylvester Ntuli Road Durban

I do not recommend if you are in Durban for business. This is the 2nd week in a row we have stayed here for work. Loud guests screaming & shouting, running in passage ways, slamming doors are not dealt with even after complaining multiple times. This happens all hours of the night. Reception just says they’ll sort it out but then nobody even bothers to come. There’s a boardroom in the middle of the first floor and people are having a party in there while other guests are trying to sleep in the rooms around it. So inconsiderate to allow this. You say no room service, yet I’ve seen multiple people have food delivered to their rooms and there are always plates etc outside the rooms in the morning to be taken away. And no this isn’t because the restaurant is full, it happens all hours of the day. Yet when I enquire about ordering I’m told no room service. If you insist on no room service, it would be nice to at least have a bar fridge in the rooms. The first week the security was good in the parking lot, this week they just open the gates and not we’ve not been scanned once. People are allowed to park in the paraplegic parking without any permit or reason to. Security does nothing. The fire emergency doors have an alarm that goes off every 30-40 minutes day and night. So don’t plan on staying here if you enjoy your sleep. The room is great, bathroom is very clean. The cleaners are excellent here.

My experience of the hotel was even better than I had anticipated. I found the place to be cozy and secure with a pleasant atmosphere. The rooms were clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service is prompt and efficient. This is a great place for a quiet getaway.

It's a really well maintained nice, relaxed environment with a swimming ‍ pool. Rooms are clean . There's gym ‍, access to public transport & public road. Few minutes to the beachfront . They serve tasty, mouth-watering food as you can see the picture. Rooms: They are well maintained & clean. Nearby activities: Walking distance to beachfront. Safety: Lockable gates monitored by security guards. Walkability: Easy access to public roads & public transport. Food & drinks: See attached pictures for the mouth watering, tasty dinner I had here.

Enjoyed my overnight stay while I was in Durban. I feel like the rooms could do with a bit if an upgrade, and the area traveling here is a bit dodge. But super friendly staff, very quiet and discreet. Overall a good stay :Rooms: 3/5

A great breakfast we go to ok a Saturday morning. I can't tell you the nice vibe ,the awesome pool setting and they even allow the kids to play in the pool in this Durban heat A welcome gesture as the beaches are a no go. I cannot recommend this place enough Our go to breakfast spot. Food & drinks: Food at buffet is awesome. Some more pastries would be welcome .

I wouldn't stay at this City Lodge again. The room had the worst odour that kept me up most of the night. It smelt like old wet carpet or mothballs. The bathrooms are newly renovated but some of the room furniture is worn out. The linen in the rooms is clean but hard and scratchy against the skin. Let's just call this the Town Lodge that it is. It does not meet the standards of a City Lodge. Rooms: Worst room I've stayed in. The room had no carpet but it had a old wet carpet or mothball odour. I had to have the aircon on really high the entire stay but that still didn't help at all with the odour. I was barely able to get any sleep. The passagway had many air purifiers but the old carpet smell is distinct even along the passage.

Unfortunately this accommodation did not meet our expectations. Firstly I did not get the rooms I booked, so my kids did not have a pleasant stay. The rooms smelt musty. The parking is awful with litter strewn all over the place. The service from the reception was awful. Looks like they hate their jobs. We will not be back.Rooms: 2/5
