This was a first for me! Picking raw ceramic objects, paints, and then sitting down to see what you can come out with - a good experience but I don't know if I'd go again. The Cafe is chilled, inviting, and accommodates everyone including kids. A place to catch up or breathe outside of one's busy life or if you wanna try something new. I like that you can bring your own snacks. The staff is nice. We ordered drinks and the tea tasted amazing from their cafe-made tea set. Unfortunately, we're only going to get our finished 'works of art' in a month or so because of a backlog with the firing - loadshedding is the culprit!
Great experience! Lots of different ceramic options, paints, etc. They also have hot/cold drink options. As well as small snacks. Despite the approx. 2 month turnaround time to receive our finished products due to a backlog, we can't wait to see them!
If you want to take your mind off daily challenges, just for 2-3 hours, this is the place, you choose what you want to paint,from mugs, potplants, plates,cats,fish,cars, what ever they have available in store, then you apply your creativity. The final product is available after 2 months.very therapeutic
Definitely a must try at least once in a while. We went with a birthday group and it ranged from artists to accountants and other not so artsy people and everyone enjoyed themselves. The process is simple and if you go in the weekdays it's really quiet. They also serve coffee and snacks to have while you paint. The wait is a bit long but it's definitely worth it. I'm absolutely going back!
Pros: Color Cafe has a nice atmosphere, reasonable prices you only pay for the ceramic item you choose so prices vary according to that and that amount covers your time there which is 2hrs if it's busy but if it's not a busy day you're allowed to stay as long as you want till they close We had a great experience painting, they sell beverages but i think it would be nice to also offer cookies or snacks to nibble on while painting. The staff is very friendly and helpful Cons: They say due to loadshedding and stuff they're behind on getting the complete ceramic item back to customers so the waiting period to get your item is about 3 months at the moment. They also don't have a system that sends customers a text or message to say that their item is ready for collection, you have to keep an eye out on their Instagram page to see when items from the month you came in have been announced ready for collection. You also need to have taken pictures of your item as proof of which one is yours because they don't keep track of that except for the item price and generic description on the payment slip. It's your responsibility to have picture proof.
Such a fun way to spend the morning!!! What an amazing little gem in the middle of Hyde Park!!

Changing my previous review below because it's been 3 MONTHS and I haven't yet gotten my items back. Everytime I call they say it will be done in 2 weeks. No explanation of what's going on or why it's so delated. So I won't recommend this place unless you never want to see your painted items ever again. __________________________ Love the venue and the atmosphere. There's a massive variety of paints, brushes and stencils. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good cappuccino too Painting takes longer than you think so make sure you give yourself at least 3 hours. The great part is if you don't finish before they close you can take your item home and return another day to complete it without any additional cost. Only complaint is that we were asked to move tables 3 times as people kept coming and leaving, and were seated with other families. Would have really preferred our own table and less disturbances.
A great place for a relaxing afternoon. It’s quite fun to go in a group and paint your clay items together. There’s a nice variety paints and stencils to help those of us who need it. There’s also some great snacks available and the staff members are really helpful and pleasant. It should be noted that there is currently a waiting period of 6-8 weeks for your item to undergo the baking/varnishing process. Update: Have successfully collected my items and am happy with the results.
