This is an iconic bakery in the area and has been here for years. The pastries, cakes & breads are delicious. A little on the pricey side & I wish that there were some options for special dietary needs as well.
A favourite since I was a child. The sausage rolls are undoubtedly the best in the world. Great pies, and the onion bread loaf is exceptional. On the cake side you can never beat the Devonshire Cream Cake. Excellent business, family owned and operated and they have been true to their values for the almost 50 years that I have been a customer. Not cheap but great value for money.
It was so lovely eating here for the first time. Very cozy and warm space to eat inside the Windmill. We had a delicious burger and pie and creamy milkshakes! And of course we had to stock up downstairs with the best cookies and treats!
Best caramel slices and chocolate éclairs I've ever eaten.... Made the trip to Durban more manageable. We will be back!
All I can say is WOW. The cakes, pastries, and my all-time favorite "beef croquette". The staff was friendly & extremely helpful. And then the shop where you can buy liver pate, sweets, etc. Was truly an experience.
A regular stop for outstanding Dutch treats. Lovely coffee shop upstairs. Excellent quality food at outstanding prices. Look out for the windmill.
I went to this bakery because for the impressive reviews but I had a awful experience. The prices are affordable I was surprised. I bought three muffins which totaled to R22, that's not even price of 1 muffin at the big retailers. Taste: they were stale, felt like I was eating the previous day's muffins, extremely disappointed considering the amount of recommendations for this place. Secondly the Asian lady apologies if that is politically incorrect that works at the pay point is not the friendliest Rude, being my first time there I didn't know that there's is a minimum spend of R50 if you want to pay using your card, she went on a rant about it, telling me that we all claim it's our first time buying there when we want to transact with out cards for less than their minimum amount, I offered to look for something to add to my purchase she didn't want to hear it told me that I'm supposed to know because they've been in business for 56 years, she eventually processed the transaction and threw the point of sale receipt at me after I tapped. The rest of the staff were great and friendly no complaints. Just the taste muffins and the pay point lady that will make me not to ever go back to this bakery. Not everyone goes around with cash these days.

Never disappoints. Fresh cream cakes are Devine and always exactly the same...no inconsistencies. Bread rolls are so yummy...and I've just discovered their chocolate eclaires...the best I've ever had!
Bought the bali nasi and prawn pies yesterday. It was ice cold ! The lady who served me didn't bother to mention that it could have been the previous day's leftover! To the Management, I am sure you don't want to be chasing profits whilst compromising your reputation!
