Deerpark Café

About

Freshly prepared, ever changing menu. Great coffee and fantastic view of the mountain and glimpses of the city. Good wine selection, craft beers available.

Description

Situated on the upper slopes of Vredehoek overlooking the city, this city bowl eatery is great for all ages. The décor is natural and stylish yet funky – outside and inside seating is available with big bay windows overlooking The Rocklands Rd Park. Table Mountain is the back drop with Deer Park being the popular gateway into the reserve.

Breakfast is a straight up affair with everything from a home-made bran muffin, the best egg benedict right up to a traditional breakfast. Perfect for a morning breakfast meeting (free wi- fi and tables big enough for a laptop and your food) or for a relaxed weekend family brunch. The bacon and eggs are free range with the bacon being a thicker cut, no fat delicacy (you will never look at bacon the same way again).

The lunch menu changes seasonally, whilst the daily blackboard menu features new and exciting dishes as well as local favourites. All chicken and meat is sourced from free-range farms, with the chicken and cashew nut salad being a firmfavourite with locals. The burgers are done in true home-made fashion served on ciabatta rolls with delicious toppings and hand cut potato wedges. The cakes are amazing and the slices generous– from dense carrot and pecan nut cake with lemon creamcheese frosting, to a zesty lemon meringue and the most fabulous dark Chocolate Cake soaked in brandy syrup and covered in chocolate caramel ganache!

The restaurant borders on The Rocklands Rd Park, a well maintained fenced public park with swings, jungle gyms and plenty of grass. Great for the children to run around in, while the parents enjoy a well-deserved coffee or glass of wine, in the restaurant of picnic style in the park.

The restaurant books up quickly on the weekends – so best to phone and book your table. Inside seating is perfect protection from the Vredehoek wind and toasty in winter with the fireplace.

Awesome place for parents with toddlers and pre-grade schools kids. Deer Park Café has direct access to the Public park area. Restaurant overlooks play area and offers a 180 degree view. Restaurant area upgraded. Great coffee, especially my flat white.
Their lamb riblets with cauliflower bake and ratatouille was the best meal I’ve had so far in Cape Town. So delicious, filling and wholesome! The family enjoyed their meals too, although the chicken schnitzel could have been more moist. Overall we had a great experience with the service, the play area and the efficiency of the staff. It was great to have such excellently prepared food with a very reasonable waiting time. I would definitely recommend this restaurant as a must visit for families visiting the area.
Thank you Guys. Will definitely visit again Best Vegan pizza! Best lamb burger patti! So many plusses, garden, dog friendly, good music, good service.. and more.. u will not be disappointed! Look into making your patties available for home cooking, I would for sure have purchased
This restaurant at the base of Table Mountain is an old favorite. The original café is now in a rebuilt, contemporary and stylish space. It overlooks the park and is a favorite with both locals and visitors.Food: 4/5
A delightful place for the whole family. There's a park with swings, roundabout, seesaw & jungle gym for the kids and adult kids to play in while waiting for food to be prepared. Have a food allergy : talk directly with the chef - he was willing to create a special meal for me, despite the busyness of the restaurant on father's day. Something I appreciated, plus the fact that it was quite tasty. Definitely worth a return Dietary restrictions: My grandson was able to get a gluten free pizza & chef prepared a garlic & gluten free meal for me
This is such a lovely spot to visit. Whether you're just stopping by for a cup of coffee or one of the delicious meals, you're sure to enjoy the experience. I had a juicy chicken burger with the best hand cut fries, a friend ordered a beautiful pork belly dish with hints of Asian flavour. Don't get me started on the carrot cake! Friendly waiting staff welcomed us and made us feel right at home, comfortable seating with ample space for dogs and/kids to play in the massive garden. There's also free wifi, so if you need a place to sit and do some work, it's got the right amount of bustle to keep it vibey.
Food and coffee was good. More selection on the specials board than the normal menu so sometimes it can be hard to find what you want. But its a great dog friendly place with a lovely outside area.Food: 4/5
This cafe is set within a park so it has a really nice and peaceful feel as you can sit on the terrace overlooking the trees. Food is delicious albeit slightly on the expensive side. Service a little slow but overall a nice experience.Recommended dishes
Had the most delicious smashed pea & avo on toast today from Deer Park cafe. It’s one of their new dishes on the menu . Vegetarian options: Lovely vegetarian options
Beautiful modern interior. Limited menu with light mostly meat free breakfasts but food is lovely. Pet and family friendly so might be a bit noisy if you’re single, but generally a great space in the park. Had Turkish eggs.
