It was created in 2009 after the election of President Jacob Zuma, when the former Department of Education was divided.The political head of the department is the Minister of Basic Education; this is Angie Motshekga. The department is headquartered in Sol Plaatje House, named after the author Sol Plaatje, in Pretoria. This South African ministry has been heavily criticized, especially during the 2012 textbook crisis.In the 2010 national budget, the department received an appropriation of 6,166.2 million rand, and had 730 employees.

Last year October 2022, my patner relocated to Newcastle from  Mpumalanga. The minor child  Sibusisiwe Kwandisa Mamba followed her mother. We approached Madadeni circuit office seeking assistance with enrolment of a child ad the application for enrolment had closed in all the schools.  We were advised to leave all documents with ma Nkosi 3 including rejection letters from 2. Hutten Park zptimaty 2. Amajuba  3. Drankensburgh.  Yesterday afternoon we were called by an unarmed lady who was rude and very deamining. She didn't even listen to us nor had documents that the DOW requested. The affected child is still without a school.  Please  kindly interve and resolve this issue.  Kind regards.

Poor work ethics, the staff are not in their offices, you get there and you are told "The person who should help you is out", lazy people, they don't want to do their work. Been going to this district since the year started, I never get any help. I have just decided that they are incompetent and lazy. They don't even deserve a single star.

I've had the same problem for over a year now, been coming to the offices and calling kodwa lutho ukulungiseka

It's a government office, difficult to find people, but helpful and engaged when you do....

The staff is friendly, I had a good experience

Its just a normal place nothing much or less...

People go to lunch for more than an hr. Visitors parking
